Department OPERATED ONSHORE OIL FIELD DEVELOPMENT Primary Purpose of the JobPrimary Purpose of the JobPlan, supervise, coordinate and control the collection, analysis and evaluation of petrophysical data for well and reservoir studies and support well operational activities. Generate appropriate field development plans and provide petrophysical support for QatarEnergy operated oil fields. As a member of interdisciplinary reservoir study teams, participate in reservoir management activities. Mentor staff and advise management.Principal Accountabilities- Plan & supervise the acquisition of and analysis/interpretation of petrophysical/formation evaluation data from new and replacement wells. Update geological/reservoir simulation models, provide input to integrated reservoir/field development studies and lab analysis.- Identify and leverage key variables in finding solutions to complex problems across various disciplines. Ensure a comprehensive approach to well data evaluation and interpretation.- Lead initiatives to improve the acquisition, processing, and interpretation of petrophysical data. Ensure the integration of this data into geological models and reservoir management strategies.- Expert in new petrophysical technology evaluation and implementation.- Advanced understanding of reservoir summation, uncertainty analysis, and saturation height definitions.- Proficient in both routine and specialized petrophysical analyses.- Develop, contribute and integrate petrophysical/formation evaluation inputs. This includes but is not limited to the following: drill/replacement well projects, workover projects, drilling operations, reservoir voidage management, field development and asset value optimisation activities.- Develop petrophysical models to characterize reservoir fluid type, saturation and distribution for 3D geostatic/reservoir simulation modelling, identifying and recommending new/replacement drill and workover subsurface targets. Provide input and recommendations for producers/injectors/observers to optimize field development.- QA/QC petrophysical data and maintain petrophysical databases including real time data links.- Provide expert guidance on the application of quality control measures and the adoption of new technologies and techniques in petrophysical analysis. Enhance the understanding of reservoir properties and performance.- Monitor work compliance by petrophysical contractors and staff, such as logging while drilling (LWD) and wire line acquisition.- Develop and prepare post-drill petrophysical reports including compilation of wireline/LWD logs.- Provide on-the-job coaching and development of QatarEnergy staff.- Leads advanced petrophysical studies and projects.- Responsible for aligning petrophysical strategies with overall business objectives. Decision Making Authority- Within broad guidelines set by the senior staff, the position is answerable for their actions, and for the consequences of them. Work requires only periodic monitoring by senior staff.- Within broad guidelines set by the senior staff, the position may perform near real-time monitoring and decision making of wireline/LWD operations with the objective of characterizing reservoir fluid type and distribution for optimum well placement.- Recommends operations entailing annual expenditure of millions of QAR and generates hundreds of millions of QAR in revenue to the company.- Exercise significant decision-making authority within the scope of petrophysical operations. Ensuring that all activities align with the strategic goals of the company and contribute to the effective management of reservoir development. Context / Special Features / Challenges- Identify subsurface uncertainties and develop mitigations/solutions by assessing various scenarios and ensuring high-quality data acquisition and analysis considering alternatives and related risk/reward.- Due to the operational nature of the work the incumbent may be on site, or on call, for extended periods. The incumbent will need the adaptability to deal with frequent disruptions outside normal working hours and to make optimal operational decisions regardless of the nature or timing of the disruption.- Ensure that relevant environmental and safety standards are enacted for all projects and activities under his/her authority. Produce high quality work and work products. Establish a high degree of trust between the different disciplines of the organization.Required Experience and SkillsRequired- Minimum 15 years of relevant work experience in the oil and gas industry with 6 years' experience doing a combination of petrophysical studies and operations. Experience with a focus on acquiring, evaluating, and interpreting petrophysical data. This includes advanced logging techniques and the ability to define hydrocarbon contacts and assess reservoir potential accurately.- Must have a thorough understanding of open hole (both wireline and MWD/LWD), cased hole and production logging tools.- Enhance reservoir characterization through the integration of various data sets, including petrophysical, geological, and dynamic data to reduce uncertainties in reservoir simulations.- Strong competency in quality control of petrophysical data, ensuring reliability and accuracy in routine and complex log analysis.- Experience in deploying new petrophysical technologies and methodologies to optimize field development and asset value.- Strong teamwork skills. Experience working in a multicultural environment.- Effectively communicate with peers, less experienced staff, field staff, and management. Desirable- Ability to guide and improve the processes related to petrophysical data acquisition and interpretation, ensuring the application of industry best practices and the incorporation of innovative approaches to subsurface characterization. (3)- Experience of CCAL and SCAL evaluation techniques - Experience working in integrated asset team environment.- Knowledge of geostatistics and experience aiding geoscientists to build 3D geological and property models (deterministic and stochastic)- Experience of horizontal well technology and geo-steering.- Experience in carbonate reservoirs. - Experience in statistical and pattern recognition (Neural networks, fuzzy logic and multidimensional histograms) techniques. - Software Knowledge/ Experience- Geoframe, TechLog and IP software- Petroworks - Openworks - Zmap+- Petrel - RMS- EmeraudeEducational Qualifications- Minimum of a BSc in Engineering/Geosciences/Applied Physics/Applied Electronics or equivalent.
