HEAVY LIFTING ENGINEERAbu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates | Posted on 01/24/2019ResponsibilitiesSchedule daily workload and generate work schedule plans.Conduct work safety awareness programs for company and contract subordinates.Undertake rigging studies, including crane requirements, load calculations, interpretation of crane load charts, and technically evaluate all lifting plans and activities.Create and review Method Statements, Risk Assessment, and Job Safety Analysis plans. Work in line with Company HSE Policy, ensuring Contractors' subordinates are aware of and comply with HSE procedures, rules, and regulations for Rigging / Lifting activities.Prepare a study for heavy lift routes and visit various areas to prepare transport drawings and offloading/lifting drawings.Assess heavy/critical lifting operations to ensure that planning, selection of cranes, heavy lifting/multi lifting, and necessary instruction and supervision are in place for safe execution.Ensure certification and coding of all heavy lift assets and ensure periodic renewal of certificates.Ensure all necessary spare parts for heavy lift assets are coded, catalogued, and stocked in the warehouse.Undertake extensive inspection of sub-contractor supplied equipment, maintenance records, lifting equipment certificates, etc., prior to mobilizing.Monitor lifting operations to ensure compliance with approved Rigging Study, established Work Method Statement, Risk and Job Safety Analysis, including revisions and re-approval of any changes to working documents.Coordinate with maintenance/project teams for lifting operations, transportation, erection, and all site activities. Deliver presentations on how the lifting plans are to be used. Monitor Sub-Contractors' Task Instruction / Tool Box Talk prior to performing any lifting operations.Provide technical expertise, identify necessary training for Safe Rigging / Lifting Operations, and support the practical application of competency-based development.Demonstrate initiative in resolving immediate and long-term site issues regarding Rigging and Lifting systems and their practical implementation.Attend client and company management meetings on and off-site regarding site rigging issues.Qualifications• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent Professional Qualification.• 6 or more years of relevant experience in managing heavy lifting and rigging equipment in maintenance workshops within a large industrial setting in the Oil and Gas Industry.
