We are engaged in all phases, from initial concept evaluation through construction and commissioning into operations, life extension and decommissioning.We are actively solving the biggest challenge of our time, the energy transition. We provide specialist consulting and assurance to the renewable industry for on and offshore wind, solar and storage, heat reuse.Our work is primarily focused on helping identify and mitigate the risks associated with sites to ensure they perform as well as they can. The Sustainability Building Architect will assist the Project Manager in actively managing green building projects from concept design through to construction completion to ensure sustainability targets are achieved.Your AttributesImaginative, creative problem-solver with a "get it done" attitude, attention to detail and pride in workPassionate about climate change and finding solutions to change the worldExperience working in startups and thrive in a chaotic — but creative — environment, valuing the autonomy and accountability that a small business providesSelf-motivated, independent when needed, but also with potential to be a team builder as the company growsYour Daily ActivitiesConsult with clients to determine the type, style and purpose of renovations or new building construction being considered.Generate building plans and detailed drawings to be used by contractors and tradespersons.Manage the coordination and overall integration of technical activities in architecture or engineering projects.Negotiate contracts with clients with a focus on design, construction time, price or others.Participate in contract negotiations.Prepare documents showing both the structural needs and the materials required for construction.Project management.Supervise the preparation of drawings, specifications and other construction documents for use by contractors and tradespersons.Work in limiting factors, such as town planning laws and environmental impact assessments.Conceptualize and design buildings and develop plans describing design specifications, building materials, costs and construction schedules.Prepare sketches and models.Perform Life Cycle Analysis to determine the embodied emissions of buildings and identify opportunities to reduce the carbon footprint of the buildings.Utilize BIM modelling and LCA software to produce embodied carbon results, in compliance with Zero Carbon Building, LEED, Toronto Green Standard, or similar standards.Review and assess emerging codes, standards and policies in the industry and prepare summary briefs for teams and practice leaders to help shape the company's agenda on energy/carbon reduction.Assist in the green building rating process for various institutional, commercial, and high-rise residential buildings.Participate in integrated design meetings to facilitate sustainability solutions from a multi-disciplinary consulting team.Review design and construction drawings to verify and document environmental performance.Review construction materials disclosure data to assess life cycle carbon emissions.Collect and track LEED, WELL, Toronto Green Standard, Zero Carbon Building Standard, Energy Star Multifamily and other green building standard submittal documentation provided by the project team and review for completeness and accuracy.Attend site meetings throughout the construction phase and perform site reviews as needed.Review design and construction submissions and provide assistance during the green building certification process.Undertake research and summarize findings on sustainability, energy, and carbon.Any duties as assigned to meet Company objectives.Position QualificationsWhat will you bring?As a Graduate, other than your relevant degree, we want you to bring your passion for the green energy transition.
