Job Description:We are currently seeking a Principal Landscape Architect to join our team. This role is a recognized design leader providing clear vision and direction for innovative and responsive design. Working with clients and project teams, elevates design in all markets. Develops a culture of design excellence. In collaboration with the other leaders in the firm, builds on the successes of SAPL to secure the future as a top design practice that vies for the most significant work. As a member of the landscape team, establishes design direction, assists and coordinates with other disciplines, prepares for design presentations and coordinates with agencies affecting design. Project types range from mixed-use developments, residential multi-family communities, urban/multi-use environments, and large-scale master planning developments. Large scale urban greening and enhancement projects, urban parkland projects. This individual will be expected to provide creativity, vision, and maturity in design judgment when anticipating and solving design complexities.The Lead Landscape Architect will be responsible for the following items: Designs and manages landscape architecture projectsResponsible for the design quality of work.Develops solutions to design problems.Responsible for promoting and maintaining SAPL's design reputation.Responsible for conceptual design excellence; initiates project design and idea discussions.Follows a holistic and integrated approach to design focusing on creating high performing sustainable solutions.Originates and develops creative design concepts and the design documents during the design development phase.Designs, develops, modifies and reviews drawings for landscape architecture projects.Demonstrates creative thinking abilities and contributes to Firmwide design excellence and problem solving.Demonstrates reliable understanding of the relationship between design and constructability.Maintains strong communication and relations with other SAPL practices and resources.Oversees design team or less experienced designers to ensure design intent.Continually contributes to the upgrade of the design process, working collaboratively with other discipline's designers.Fosters a commitment to external and internal client service.Assist in preparation of proposals; participates in interviews and public presentations.Actively promotes collaborative and innovative culture.Proactively engages staff and provides opportunities for development.Mentors and directs the work of less experienced staff, may participate in professional development reviews.Required Skills and QualificationsBachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or Architecture plus 8 to 15 years of experience; or equivalent in appropriate education and experience required. Master's degree in landscape architecture or urban design preferred.Proficiency in BIM and specific landscape script tools, Revit preferred Proficiency in Enscape, GIS, Affinity or Adobe Suite software preferred.Proficiency in AutoCAD .Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.Ability to work in team environment.Ability to effectively meet deadlines.Ability to manage a team under his/her supervisionStrong conceptual and design skillsExperience with technical detailing, writing specifications, preparing contract documents, and construction administrationExperience in material selection and construction detailingExcellent communication skills and fluency in English (spoken and written)Registration with current license required.LEED credential required within 6 months of employment.Minimum Clearance Required to Start:Not Applicable/NoneParsons is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
