Job details

On behalf of our client, a reputable international corporate and investment bank, we are looking for an AVP Legal Counsel to join their team in Dubai.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Provide legal services and legal advice to each international securities business and banking businesses.
  2. Draft, review and negotiate contractual documentation, whether transactional or non-transactional.
  3. Draft notes and other product documentation and arrange for issuance of such notes and products.
  4. Draft, review and negotiate ISDA documentation and related trading agreements and lending (syndicated or bilateral, ECA financings, LMA based or bespoke contractual arrangements).
  5. Draft, review and negotiate trade finance credit lines and products, as well as trade finance instruments.
  6. Provide legal and execution advice in relation to transactions and new business.
  7. Provide transaction management support for securities issues and financing transactions arranged or underwritten by an international securities business.
  8. Provide support for internal projects (internal restructurings and/or regulatory driven).
  9. Evaluate legal risk to ensure business is conducted in a lawful and professional manner.
  10. Identify and advise on the implementation of new laws and regulations.
  11. Provide legal oversight of regulatory matters and government affairs.
  12. Manage all disputes, litigation, regulatory proceedings and other contentious matters.
  13. Manage and approve all use of law firms.

The successful candidate must hold the following qualities:

  1. University graduate.
  2. 2-5 years post-qualification legal experience working in private practice with a major law firm or in-house with another significant financial institution or reputable bank.
  3. Good technical understanding of loan documentation and knowledge of MENA markets and legal landscape particularly in KSA, Qatar and UAE (including DIFC).
  4. Demonstrate commercial awareness of the latest market issues and regulatory changes.
  5. Ability to build effective and positive client relationships quickly and fully embrace the importance of client service.
  6. Ability to explain complex legal concepts to a non-technical audience.
  7. Ability to speak, read and write Arabic is essential.
