Job Description

The Junior Estimation Engineer in the civil construction industry plays a crucial role in the planning and execution of projects. This position is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented and possess strong analytical skills. The primary responsibility of the Junior Estimation Engineer is to assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for civil engineering projects, ensuring that all aspects of the project are considered. This role requires collaboration with various teams, including project managers, architects, and contractors, to gather necessary information and provide insights that will influence project budgets and timelines. Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in the preparation of detailed cost estimates for civil engineering projects.
  2. Review project plans and specifications to identify necessary materials and labor requirements.
  3. Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather relevant data for accurate estimation.
  4. Conduct market research to determine current pricing for materials and labor.
  5. Prepare and maintain a database of cost estimates and historical data for future reference.
  6. Participate in project meetings to discuss estimates and provide feedback on budgetary concerns.
  7. Analyze project risks and suggest mitigation strategies to ensure budget adherence.
  8. Support the senior estimation team in preparing bid proposals and presentations.
  9. Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards in all estimation processes.
  10. Continuously update knowledge of industry trends and cost estimation techniques.
Preferred Candidate:
  1. Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  3. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
  4. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  5. Proficient in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  6. Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices.
  7. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  8. Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  9. Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
  10. Understanding of construction contracts and procurement processes.

Skills

  • Proficiency in estimation software such as CostX or similar.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering concepts and practices.
  • SOFTWARE – KNOWLEDGE OF CANDY PREFERRED BUT NOT MANDATORY
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with team members and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and their costs.
  • Ability to conduct market research for pricing.
