IMI2694 - Specialist, Structural Design, I

Job Purpose We are looking to hire a Specialist in Structural Design. This job role is to execute Structural Engineering Designing activities for rig building and MRO projects. Key Accountabilities & Working Relationships Key Accountabilities:
  • Work on 3D Model and/or 2D package following drafting standards, maintaining clarity, quality, and completeness of details.
  • Perform periodic overall model reviews to assure level of content. Participate in 3D model review.
  • Review for overall completeness, general safety, access and egress, materials handling, maintenance, and operability.
  • Work with 3D coordinator to assure that project is closed out properly upon completion.
  • Prepare MTO.
  • Perform any designer functions of previous levels.
  • Ensure interdisciplinary and management review, check, and approval of design deliverables.
  • Establish company standards and review & update discipline design guidelines and standards.
  • Plan and schedule team activities and monitor team performance and budget compliance.
  • Work with Customer on conceptual design.
  • Estimate drawing quantities for design deliverables and develop & maintain drawing list.
  • Gather and review applicable codes, standards, and Supplier requirements to define installation requirements, and communicate requirements to the design team.
  • Review and comment on Supplier drawings.
  • Act as checker on design related deliverables.
  • Perform site survey, as necessary.
  • Supervise project closeout including as-built documentation.
  • Assist the lead engineer in performance assessment of designers & establishing training needs.
  • Ensure compliance with Customer and company's requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE policies and procedures as applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable information security policies & procedures.
Working Relationships: Internal Interactions:
  • Internal Engineering Department, other business work-streams within the company, Division Head - Structural, Engineering Manager.
External Interactions:
  • Subcontractors, Consultants, Software Supplier, Inspection Agencies.
Who We Are Looking For Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline, preferably Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
Experience:
  • At least 3-9+ years in any engineering company. Preference will be given for those who have worked in ship and rig building yard, major construction yard, EPC contractor and/or Consultant Company using AVEVA 3D modelling software.
Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations):
  • Preferred Any additional certification / training on CAD tools and systems.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
  • Conversant with International Codes and Standards, Marine regulations, and Classification rules.
  • Knowledge/Experience in AutoCAD for 2D drafting and/or AVEVA Marine for 3D Hull and structural modeling.
  • Knowledge/Experience in plate/profile nesting and CNC programming, preferable.
  • Demonstrated high order interpersonal skills and ability to operate within a multinational environment.
  • Knowledge/Experience in fabrication/construction/installation engineering of various structures.

  • English (Mandatory)
  • Arabic / Others (desirable)
