ALEC also possesses a Design and Build capability, which enables us to provide integrated construction solutions to our clients. ALEC offers its clients a complete turnkey solution with construction, MEP, fit-out, energy efficiency solutions and solar opportunities, facilities management capabilities, heavy equipment rental as well as technology systems. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Design Manager for our team in Red Sea.

Role:

Coordinate and manage design activities of the project, from initiation to closeout ensuring adherence to project schedule, specifications, and drawings.

Core Job Functions:

The individual will be responsible for (but not limited to):
  1. Plan design activities; prepare a comprehensive schedule of all planned drawing submittals based on the project schedule in coordination with Project Team.
  2. Verify and ensure the detailed drawing schedule from subcontractor/Supplier's is in compliance with project drawing schedule.
  3. Prepare Project CPI (Critical Pending Item) List and distribute weekly to the engineer/client based on project circulation criteria.
  4. Conduct/Attend design workshops to conclude design issues requiring coordination with other trades and subcontractors.
  5. Review the technical queries/clarifications from the subcontractor, prepare clarification and raise the relevant queries/clarifications to Client/Consultant. Review the clarifications from the consultant and transmit to all interfacing subcontractors as per the Design Manager's direction.
  6. Assess RFI replies to generate and identify to the QS department where a cost has been incurred by the reply received.
  7. Represent the Design Team in project weekly progress meeting to notify the critical design issues currently impacting the project progress.
  8. Assess Shop drawing comments and prepare CVI's where change has been noted on a shop drawing.
  9. Generate and identify to the QS department where a cost has been incurred by the reply received to a particular CVI.
  10. Prepare and manage design change in a simple indicative presentation, updating weekly/monthly as necessary. Distribute to project management for information/action.
  11. Coordinate/Liaise/follow up with subcontractors to ensure they have all the necessary information and advise them if and where they are failing on their responsibilities.
  12. Coordinate with subcontractors, Project team, and consultants for completing the design activities of the project as per schedule.
  13. Review subcontractor's drawings for Accuracy, Quality and incorporation of relevant information, raise clarifications/queries to subcontractor if required.
  14. Set shop drawing submittal targets with the Design coordinators and Sr. Draftsmen.
  15. Review the coordinated drawings with Design Coordinators to ensure the accuracy of the drawing and incorporation of relevant information.
  16. Review design calculations from subcontractor for accuracy and incorporation of relevant information.
  17. Provide weekly/monthly report identifying the status of design issues, shop drawing submittal schedules and chronologies of ongoing issues/events with weekly/monthly look ahead to Project Team/Client.
  18. Develop drawings for various temporary facilities, logistics related designs as per the Project Requirement.
  19. Prepare/organize drawings for Authority's approval as per Project Requirement.
  20. Review red line drawings and as-built drawings from subcontractor for accuracy and incorporation of relevant information.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  1. Minimum 10 years relevant experience in Fit-out Contracting .
  2. Sound experience in managing the design engineering processes .
  3. Experience in multiple disciplines such as joinery, metalworks, façade and relevant Fit-out works would be an advantage.
  4. Experience in high-end luxury Fit-Out works (Hotels and Restaurants) would be preferred.
  5. Sound knowledge of key design software such as Staad, Prokon, Etab.
  6. Sound knowledge and experience with AutoCAD, MS Office & Adobe Acrobat.
