Job Overview: The Principal Piping & Layout Engineer will provide piping engineering services on large or mega projects including technical support and supervision within the piping engineering team. Will perform conceptual, FEED, PRE-FEED Studies, and detailed analyses and design as per design basis, project specifications, design codes, and standards. Will apply knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations and prepare independently clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures. Will lead functional teams or projects to meet agreed deadlines and budgets. Will lead to solve complex issues, uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify innovative solutions and work to establish understanding with stakeholders. Will interpret internal and external business issues and recommends best practices to improve technology, processes, or services. Communicate effectively with the piping engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer. Responsibilities Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  1. Overall co-ordination and development of a safe, economical and operable design in accordance with P & IDs and all company and project guidelines and specifications
  2. 3D Model – Design and Lead Space management effort with co-ordination with all Discipline Leads for the project ensuring a consistent design approach across the Project.
  3. Ensure effective inter-discipline coordination.
  4. Review of Piping studies and model to assure quality of design.
  5. Provide input to project schedule, manpower plan and progress measurement.
  6. Coordinate the production of all design deliverables in accordance with the Project schedule.
  7. Responsible for control, review and squad checking of all equipment packages.
  8. Attend all design review meetings, both internal and with the client
  9. Actively pursue information needed from other disciplines, suppliers, etc. for both design and engineering activities
  10. Maintain Master files and records of documents issued, either internally or externally
  11. Supervise all Piping Designers assigned to Project.
  12. Effectively monitor change, reporting schedule and budget impact to Overall piping Lead
  13. Apply in-depth skills and broad knowledge of the business to address complex problems and non-standard situations and report them to Project Management Team and Department Manager at early stage.
  14. Manage own time to meet objectives and forecast and plan resource requirements.
  15. Lead others to solve complex problems, uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify innovative solutions.
  16. Interpret internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve technology, processes or services.
  17. Explain difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view.
  18. Focused on health and safety policies and procedures.
  19. Act as project representative for the discipline during meetings with the project team, Client, and relevant agencies such as certifying authorities, auditors, third parties etc.
Qualifications Essential Qualifications and Education:
  1. Bachelor's degree or master's degree in mechanical engineering
  2. 15-20 years of experience as Piping & Layout Engineer, at least 5 years as a Lead Layout Engineer in the Oil and gas with major contractor performing Conceptual, Pre-FEED, FEED and detail design.
