An AAG Principal is the educational leader of the respective departments. She assumes responsibility for the quality of the educational program and supervision of faculty and staff in alignment with the Superintendent and Management. Procedures:

  • Continue to support the goals and philosophy of AAG and how it is reflected in the AAG Early Childhood program.
  • Supervise the daily operations of the respective school.
  • Organize and administer the educational program in accordance with the goals and visions of the American Academy for Girls.
  • Develop and implement curriculum that meets Common Core standards.
  • Observe and evaluate all faculty and staff.
  • Develop a system of assessment to show individual student growth and development.
  • Implement an orientation process for parents.
  • Monitor and review plan for regular communication with the parents.
  • Attend all administrative meetings.
  • Meet regularly with grade level leaders.
  • Meet regularly with faculty and staff to discuss implementations of program as well as curriculum and training in cooperation with the Curriculum Coordinator.
  • Create master schedule for the school in cooperation with the Assistant Principal.
  • Develop a yearly calendar of special events.
  • Maintain a regular daily bulletin to staff and students.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly environment in the school.
  • Communicate with parents concerning the academic progress of their daughter.
  • Coordinate screening of incoming students.
  • Liaison the advancement and class placement of transition students into the next school/department.
  • Assist in the hiring of new staff.
  • Maintain student enrollment procedures and criteria.
  • Provide the Superintendent input on the fiscal needs of the Department.
  • And other duties not listed.
Specific qualifications required for this role:
  • Teaching Credential/License.
Additional requirements for this role:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Education or Educational Leadership required.
  • Teaching Certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Assistant Principal or Principal required.
  • Evidence of interpersonal relation skills dealing with parents, students, and staff.
  • Ability to read and write English with clarity and conviction.
  • Principal Certification: K-12 preferred but not required.
