The Health and Safety Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of employees within the Oil & Gas, Construction & Building, and Technical Maintenance & Repair sectors. This position is vital for maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety within the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of safety protocols, risk assessment, and emergency response procedures. Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures tailored to the specific needs of the organization.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on health and safety practices and emergency response procedures.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
- Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Monitor compliance with environmental regulations and promote sustainable practices.
- Assist in the development of safety-related documentation, including risk assessments and safety data sheets.
- Stay updated on industry trends and changes in legislation related to health and safety.
- Act as a point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns from employees.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical abilities.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and risk management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Commitment to promoting a safe work environment.
- Relevant certifications in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
- Familiarity with industry-specific safety regulations and standards.
- Ability to conduct effective training sessions.
- Willingness to stay current with safety trends and best practices.
- Experience in Oil and Gas.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Experience in conducting safety audits and risk assessments.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Ability to analyze data and generate reports.
- First aid and CPR certification.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work in high-pressure environments.
