Roles and Responsibilities

Experience: 5 - 9 years Day-to-Day Operations:
  1. Carry out duties assigned by superior for day-to-day operations and ensure compliance with established standards and procedures.
  2. Prepare concept design input, preliminary or detailed design.
  3. Prepare general arrangement (GA), architectural layouts, detailed production/construction drawings, MTOs, and material submittals.
  4. Coordinate with drafting personnel for checking and issuing of drawings.
  5. Provide estimation support.
  6. Prepare documentation for approval of Class and statutory bodies.
  7. Review vendor technical offers, compliance statements, etc.
  8. Participate and provide inputs for 3D modeling.
  9. Review client specifications and prepare clear scope matrix, raise TQ and clarifications.
Technical Competencies:
  1. Exposure to drafting & modeling tools.
  2. Knowledge of Classification Society Rules and statutory regulations.
  3. Good coordination and presentation skills.
  4. Ability to develop, interpret, and follow method statements, procedures, specifications, drawings, and all other discipline-related project and engineering documentation.
  5. Thorough understanding of technical drawings, plans, and data.
  6. Possess knowledge of MS Office applications.
  7. Knowledge and experience in ship repair and new building works.
Knowledge of Trends and Technologies:
  1. Sustainability: Awareness of green building certifications like LEED or BREEAM.
  2. Smart Design: Integrating technology for smart homes and buildings.
  3. Global Trends: Staying updated on architectural trends and innovations.
Additional Desirable Skills:
  1. Cultural Sensitivity: Incorporating local and cultural elements into designs.
  2. Public Speaking: Presenting ideas to stakeholders and at design reviews.
  3. Hand Sketching: Ability to quickly convey ideas through freehand sketches.
  4. Urban Design Knowledge: Understanding larger-scale planning and zoning considerations.

Desired Candidate Profile

Technical Skills:
  1. Architectural Design: Proficiency in designing structures, layouts, and spaces that meet client requirements and regulations.
  2. Drafting and CAD: Expertise in software like AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or ArchiCAD for creating technical drawings and 3D models.
  3. Rendering and Visualization: Using tools like Lumion, V-Ray, or Enscape for photorealistic renderings.
  4. Building Information Modeling (BIM): Knowledge of BIM tools for collaborative design and documentation.
  5. Construction Knowledge: Understanding building materials, methods, and systems.
Creative Skills:
  1. Aesthetic Vision: Strong sense of design, form, and proportion.
  2. Concept Development: Ability to translate abstract ideas into concrete designs.
  3. Problem-Solving: Innovatively addressing design challenges, such as spatial constraints or budget limitations.
  4. Sustainability: Designing eco-friendly and energy-efficient buildings.
Analytical Skills:
  1. Code Compliance: Familiarity with local building codes, zoning laws, and regulations.
  2. Structural Awareness: Basic understanding of engineering principles to ensure design feasibility.
  3. Site Analysis: Evaluating environmental, geographic, and cultural factors for design suitability.
  4. Budget Management: Designing within financial constraints and optimizing material use.
Communication Skills:
  1. Client Interaction: Understanding client needs and translating them into design solutions.
  2. Presentation: Effectively presenting concepts through visuals, models, and verbal explanations.
  3. Team Collaboration: Working with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  4. Documentation: Preparing clear and comprehensive design documentation.
Technical Tools:
  1. 3D Modeling Software: Proficiency in Rhino, 3ds Max, or Blender.
  2. Adobe Creative Suite: Skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign for presentation materials.
  3. Parametric Design: Knowledge of Grasshopper or Dynamo for complex geometries.
