Job details
- Provides comprehensive and diligent cardio-thoracic surgical care to all patients, including pre- and post-operative care and such surgical procedures as are within incumbent's competence.
- Assumes after-hours responsibility for the care of cardio-thoracic cases and makes daily rounds for those hospitalized.
- Provides consultation services to physicians and other surgeons and specialists if and when required.
- Orders diagnostic laboratory studies and X-ray examinations, determining the diagnosis and prescribing applicable therapy.
- Determines the eligibility of patients for admission.
- Identifies need for tests or follow-up visits.
- Supports Continuous Quality Improvement.
- Exercises effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, associates, and Management.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information and administrative matters of a confidential nature.
- Evidences dependability in carrying out the commitments and obligations of the position.
- Demonstrates the ability to listen to others in promoting effective communication.
- Develops a thorough understanding of policies and procedures of the hospital and demonstrates respect for them.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of the Department.
- Complies with all OSH and infection control policies, standards, and procedures and cooperates with hospital management to comply with those requirements.
- Works in accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities.
- Is familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
- Notifies OSH Hazards, incidents, near misses, and issues and assists with the preparation of risk assessments and incident reports.
- Complies with waste management procedures and policies.
- Attends applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills, and awareness programs.
- Uses appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
