The ACCOM Airfield Operations Specialist Deputy Airfield Manager is responsible for the overall management of airfield management facilities and services to provide a safe, efficient, and effective airfield environment for aircraft operations. The designee provides direct supervision and management of all personnel working in Airfield Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs airfield inspections and checks for safety and compliance with planning and design criteria.
  • Develops parking plans.
  • Plans, organizes and directs airfield activities including airfield construction/repairs, airfield driving program, ice/snow removal operations, and Bird/Wildlife control.
  • Procures, maintains, and produces information on safe operation of aircraft through the national and international airspace system such as Flight Information Publications, aeronautical charts and maps, NOTAM, local airfield and navigational aid status, and weather information.
  • Responsible for airport management and coordination between air-traffic control and maintenance personnel.
  • Supervises airfield maintenance and construction projects.
  • Generates dispatching and implements airfield safety procedures; generates facility duty schedules to support airfield operating hours.
  • Coordinates hazardous cargo and live fire device movements.
  • Conducts airfield inspections.
  • Processes domestic and international flight plans.
  • Coordinates with base agencies to meet aircrew requirements for billeting, messing, refueling, transportation, and transient aircraft maintenance.
  • Regularly monitors and inspects operational condition of runways, taxiways, navigational and meteorological aids.
  • Coordinates with Operations and Maintenance Manager to ensure all facilities of airfield remain in operational conditions.
  • Determines operational restrictions or hazards to flight and communication facility and advises airfield management; ensures implementation of Bird/Wildlife Aircraft Strike Hazard (BASH) program.
  • Identifies flight safety issues including violations of airfield clearing criteria and hazards to arriving, departing, and parked aircraft; assesses damage to airfield property; and monitors necessary actions to repair and reopen airfield facilities.
  • Coordinates with military, federal, international, and local agencies concerning flight planning, training route utilization, flight movement messages, search/rescue operations, and base contingency/operational plans.
  • Advises military and civilian agencies on closure of runways, taxiways, aircraft parking aprons/spots, airfield repairs/construction, and availability of airfield lighting/navigational aid systems.
  • Coordinates with airfield management regarding emergency situations on airfield.
  • Coordinates with base agencies to ensure proper support to all base, transient VIP aircraft, passengers, and crews.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an approved DoD/Advanced Airfield Managers course or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of Airfield Management experience with a minimum of six (6) years of total airfield operations experience in airfield operations of similar scope and level of responsibility.
  • Documented experience with ICAO procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, instructions, and directives pertaining to airfield planning and design criteria, aircraft operations, and airfield management.
  • Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Skill in analyzing, planning, and adjusting work operations to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
  • Experience implementing airfield safety procedures; generating and facilitating airfield flight line drivers programs, managing local flight information publications, and validating and publishing NOTAMs.
  • Experience conducting airfield inspections IAW USAF regulations is required.
  • Experience operating IAW USAF regulations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain United States Secret Security Clearance.
  • Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain United States Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
