Legal Counsel/Manager (Middle East) Legal Counsel this is a new role for the Middle East! This role is required to support the expected growth in the region and strengthen oversight and governance of the existing operating model. The establishment of the new regional HQ also requires the support of local L&C representatives. Skills and experience that will lead to success Legal Counsel. A qualified lawyer (admitted to practice) of good standing with 5-8 years post qualification experience in the Financial Services sector. Proficient in English and Arabic. This role is Full time onsite based in Dubai. Job Description Reporting into the Regional Head of Law & Compliance, the successful candidate will be responsible for oversight of the legal function across all solution lines. The candidate will also be required to provide legal services to the Regional HQ. Areas of responsibility will include ad hoc legal advice and guidance to the business; legal support to all solution lines on contract negotiations (drafting and vetting); oversight and management of all Errors and Omissions/Litigious claims/Disputes; oversight and management of external counsel when engaged; advice and guidance on all existing and new regulations; support to and collaboration with the compliance function in a united manner; support to the corporate secretariat function initiatives on good corporate governance; support to the Internal Audit function and Risk Function where required; support to the L&C team across the Middle East region. Experience and Attributes Experience in the interpretation and application of regulation. Proven ability to lead discussions. Proactive, energetic, and enthusiastic on law and compliance subjects. Experience in working in a cross-functional environment. A clear and concise communicator. Solution-oriented and structured in their thinking and approach to their responsibilities. A team player with a collaborative approach is required. Good people skills. Must be comfortable challenging the status quo in a professional and reasoned manner. Confidence and credibility to engage with senior management.
