- Direct engineering contributions to projects as required relative to engineering, code and standards compliance, and technical systems achievement of the creative intent.
- Lead the technical design process, working closely with creative teams, engineers, architects, and vendors to translate creative concepts into detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation that guide the implementation of show elements.
- Collaborate with creative directors, show producers, and technical specialists to integrate design elements with advanced technologies, ensuring that the creative vision is realized through practical and executable technical solutions.
- Bring a deep understanding of technical systems and construction methods, including structural engineering, mechanical systems, show control systems, and material specifications, to guide the development of design solutions that meet aesthetic, functional, and safety requirements.
- Coordinate design efforts across disciplines, including scenic design, lighting design, audiovisual design, special effects, and architectural detailing, to create a cohesive and immersive guest experience that aligns with the project's theme and narrative.
- Review/approve all Ride/Show drawings/deliverables.
- Contribute to the project technical team in assessing and mitigating execution, technical, and schedule risks.
- Create and present project materials to internal and external audiences, in communicating project concept, content, and status.
- Direct intent/review SPFX, AV, Show Controls, Ride Controls, etc.
- Development of SEL tracks and other related technical narrative documents.
- Contribute to ADA compliance for Shows and Rides.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policies, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and attraction design standards.
- Responsible for ensuring that the quality of the Creative Design developed by AtkinsRéalis is maintained.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or Engineering, or a related field.
- Additional certifications in project management or technical disciplines are beneficial.
- Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in technical direction for themed entertainment projects, with a strong portfolio demonstrating successful project outcomes.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
- Comprehensive understanding of technical design, construction methods, mechanical systems, show automation, and technical integration within themed environments.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices for themed entertainment design and construction.
