PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for the detailed design, specification, and implementation of instrumentation systems for offshore upstream oil and gas projects. This role supports the engineering phase of projects, ensuring that all instrumentation systems are designed and installed according to project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines. The Instrumentation Engineer works closely with the project team to deliver reliable and efficient instrumentation solutions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and review instrumentation design documents, such as P&IDs, instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, and wiring diagrams.

Conduct instrument sizing and selection for various applications, including control valves, flow meters, pressure, and temperature instruments.

Prepare detailed specifications for instrumentation equipment and materials.

Provide technical support during the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning phases of the project.

Assist in troubleshooting and resolving instrumentation-related issues.

Ensure that instrumentation designs are compliant with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all instrumentation design activities.

Prepare technical reports, calculations, and datasheets for review and approval.

Ensure that all documentation is properly archived and maintained according to company procedures.

Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., process, mechanical, electrical) to ensure integrated project delivery.

Work closely with vendors and contractors to ensure the correct specification, procurement, and installation of instrumentation equipment.

Participate in project meetings and provide updates on instrumentation engineering activities.

Ensure that all instrumentation designs comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISA, IEC, API, ANSI) and regulatory requirements.

Implement and adhere to company and project-specific safety and quality management systems.

Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses related to instrumentation systems.

Assist in the commissioning and startup of instrumentation systems, ensuring proper installation and functionality.

Participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) for instrumentation equipment.

Provide support for the integration of instrumentation systems with control and safety systems.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in instrumentation engineering, preferably in offshore upstream oil and gas projects.

Familiarity with industry standards and codes (e.g., ISA, IEC, API, ANSI).

Proficiency in instrumentation design software and tools (e.g., SmartPlant Instrumentation, INtools).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Willingness to travel to offshore sites and project locations as required.
