Wood has an opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Qatar on a long-term basis.

We are looking for a self-starter with the ability to produce electrical deliverables with little input or guidance. The candidate should have:

Key Responsibilities:

Good understanding of international codes and standards along with their application.

High level of competency in electrical system design (e.g., Single Line Diagrams (SLD's), protection and control schemes).

Experience in developing and issuing the following deliverables:

Electrical Design Basis, Specifications and Standards.

Load Schedules and SLD's.

Protection and metering schemes.

Calculations (Load, cable sizing, battery, equipment sizing).

Familiarity with power system studies (short circuit, load flow, transient, motor starting, and harmonic studies).

Relay settings, power adequacy, lighting/earthing/lightning protection deliverables.

Electrical layouts (equipment, cable, tray, duct, and trench).

Checking of area classification layouts.

Data sheets for major equipment and preparation of enquiry packages for HV and LV switchgear, transformers, drive systems, UPS.

Reviewing and checking of electrical deliverables to ensure accuracy and alignment with the scope of work prior to issue.

Familiarity with SKM, ETAP, or SPEL software packages.

May serve as the Lead Engineer and/or discipline technical authority when required on small to medium complexity projects.

Supervise a small work group consisting of engineers and designers with some coaching from the Lead Engineer.

Assist in performing managerial tasks such as assigning tasks to engineers, planning and coordinating portions of the engineering work, preparing scopes, schedules, and budgets.

Takes responsibility and ownership for challenging electrical engineering tasks and delivering scope for an area on large and/or complex projects.

Review vendor quotations, prepare technical quotation evaluation, and recommend the final technically acceptable vendor.

Technically approve Order Variation Summaries.

Prepare and develop material take-off for the electrical discipline.

Hold coordination meetings and engineering review meetings with vendors of major equipment as required.

Participate in project reviews, design reviews, audits, and workshops as required.

Strong understanding of plant design and equipment layout, and liaise with clients on technical matters where required.

Completion of site surveys and data gathering for brownfield scope of work.

Provide relevant knowledgeable practical skills in response to site visits and site surveys.

Demonstrate appreciation of commercial and technical risks.

Qualifications:

Engineering Degree majoring in Electrical Engineering.

Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

Proven core Electrical Engineering skills, including design experience in the Oil & Gas sector.

Experience working on various projects and phases, including greenfield and brownfield, on and offshore, from Pre-FEED through to EPC, with a focus on offshore upstream.

Familiarity with electrical design tools such as SPEL and Aveva Electrical.

Experienced with Electrical HAZOP / SAFOP completion.

Able to impact and influence fellow workers, and lead more junior engineers and designers.

Demonstration of customer focus and ability to respond to customer needs while achieving project and corporate objectives.

Display analytical and innovation skills to manage new technology.
