Job Purpose

We are looking to hire a Consultant, Machinery Outfitting Engineering. This job role is to provide consultation regarding Machinery Outfitting and supervise the overall detail/production drawings in Ship Building.

Key Accountabilities & Working Relationships

Key Accountabilities:
  1. Consult the Machinery outfitting discipline engineers for the Mechanical division.
  2. Create Master Engineering Plan for the Mechanical Division of New Project considering Construction Schedule, Procurement, and Detail/Production MP/MP.
  3. Evaluate Engineering Manpower with analyzing changeable design workload for the Mechanical Division and deploy engineers where needed.
  4. Develop and structure the division's engineering capabilities for the Discipline in line with the department's strategic development plan.
  5. Contribute to the professional development of employees by providing training and mentoring.
  6. Monitor and ensure achievement of key performance indicators for the engineering discipline.
  7. Assist the department manager in development and implementation of process and procedures and ERM/CAD system implementation in the engineering.
  8. To provide consultation in ensuring appropriate checking & review Traffic system, Seating, HVAC, Supporting of piping.
  9. Provide guidance Update drawings according to the result of feedback with each party of Clients, Classification Societies, Operation/Commissioning team, Vendors, and subcontractors.
  10. Generate required technical information for production using CAD/CAM/ERM system.
  11. Support projects and production ensuring that detail/productions design deliverables are provided in a timely manner.
  12. Support for commissioning team to Arrange/Manage the service engineers from vendors for commissioning.
  13. Attend/Manage the major commissioning, test, and trial.
  14. Establish and ensure the use of standard engineering details for the discipline.
  15. Contribute to the professional development of employees by providing training and mentoring.
  16. Support the commercial team and provide technical assistance when required for Bids and Proposals.
  17. Ensure quality and accuracy of the engineering deliverables for the discipline and ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) responsibilities.
Working Relationships: Internal Interactions: Internal Engineering departments, other business work-streams within the company. External Interactions: Suppliers, Subcontractors, consultants, inspection agencies.

Who we are looking for

Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or Control & Instrumentation Engineering or Naval Architecture Engineering or equivalent. Experience: At least 18+ years' experience in the engineering department of any shipbuilding industry, 5 years of which is in managerial or similar capacity. Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations): Preferred – Any additional certification/courses in mechanical engineering. Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
  • Sound knowledge of International marine Rules & Regulations (IMO convention, Codes etc.), Classification Society Rules, Flag state national Rules, Industrial standards & guidelines.
  • Exposure to 2D AutoCAD and 3D design tools like AVEVA.
  • Exposure to equipment sizing and calculations in jack-up rigs or ships.
  • Demonstrated high order interpersonal skills and the ability to operate within a multinational environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate others regarding continuous improvement.
  • Languages: English. (Mandatory) Arabic/Others (desirable)
