Must qualify to be classified as a Consultant by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. Department Information Summary: The Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Division provides care to children 12 years and younger with amblyopia, congenital cataract and glaucoma, hereditary and congenital disorders, tear duct disorders, or tumors, especially retinoblastoma. In addition, the evaluation and treatment of motility disorders and strabismus are provided to patients of all ages. The services of certified orthoptists are important components of the division, offering special eye measurement tests, as well as treatment with glasses, prisms, and occlusive therapy. Physician Staff: 4 ophthalmic consultants 2-4 one-year subspecialty fellows 2-4 rotating residents Services/Functions: The services/functions of the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Division are as follows: Comprehensive evaluation, including cycloplegic refraction, alignment and motility assessment, electrophysiological testing, ultrasonography, and visual fields; Amblyopia management, including patching and refractive correction with glasses, contact lens, or IOL implantation; Retinoblastoma management in collaboration with consultants from the Vitreoretinal Division and the Department of Medicine (Pediatrician); Surgical management of strabismus, congenital cataract, congenital glaucoma, and nasolacrimal obstruction.
