Synopsis

The Lead Engineer reports to the Airbus Technical Fleet Manager -Fleet Management and is responsible for the compliance on all CAR AIR OPS and CAR M requirements in order to ensure the continuing airworthiness and to maintain the aircraft safety standard.

Accountabilities

  • Review, incorporation and follow up on all Avionic component related Airworthiness Directives and mandatory Service Bulletins on Etihad Airways Fleet to ensure that all mandatory modifications are properly assessed, decided, all the related documents are issued and complied in a timely manner to maintain aircraft airworthiness and safety standard.
  • Evaluation of reliability data and alert notification to perform root cause analysis to develop or identify corrective actions. Contact OEM as required to respond to the reliability department with the specified timelines. Prioritize an implement a plan with internal and external stakeholder to improve the fleet reliability and on-time performance.
  • The Lead Engineer shall design, compile and issue Engineering Orders, Special Checks and Additional Engineering Requirements based on approved maintenance data for the purpose of modification, aircraft status assessment for reliability and safety issues and to ensure accomplishment of additional work to provide solutions to on-going technical problems.
  • Incorporation of company requested avionic modifications. Additional modifications, which are requested by the internal customers (e.g. Flight Operations, etc.) shall be technically and commercially assessed and presented in a meaningful format for management decision and approval.
  • Carry out any technical projects as directed by the Etihad Fleet Engineering management such as end of aircraft lease, new aircraft induction, cabin re-config, aircraft parking and storage etc.
  • He/She ensures that all Non-Mandatory Modifications for the related fleet are properly assessed, decided and timely incorporated to maintain aircraft safety standard. Significant reliability improvement, cost and maintenance reduction is achieved, ensuring return-on-investment within 2 years. Evaluate and verify engineering order issue in order to provide correct, adequate and approved maintenance data in line with the applicable regulations.
  • The Lead Engineer Avionics works towards identification of any deterioration in the technical performance of avionic system and recommend an efficient and economic resolution in a timely manner in order to maintain aircraft at an optimum balance of safety, utilization, technical performance and maintenance cost.
  • He/She shall also recommend where maintenance programs and procedures should be amended to reduce maintenance and other costs by avoiding delays, technical incidents, unscheduled maintenance, AOGs, etc.
  • The Lead Engineer shall be required to liaise and provide technical assistance to departments responsible for negotiating contracts for the repair/overhaul of avionic components. He/she will also provide technical assistance to departments responsible for pursuing warranty claims and support programs with the manufacturers and vendors.
  • He/She will be responsible to liaise with internal and external stakeholders to maintain and improve the Airbus Fleet within the design specifications in order to optimize on-time performance and maintenance cost to meet management and customer satisfaction.
  • Familiar with, enforces and follows the procedures stipulated in the Etihad Airways Safety & Quality Management Manual (SQMM) and becomes an active participant in the workplace safety program.
  • Encourages colleagues and is actively involved in the promotion of a positive reporting culture, by reporting any unsafe acts, unsafe conditions or safety risks.

Education & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications that meet the eligibility requirements for membership as a charted engineer (e.g. Bachelor degree in the field of Aeronautical or Electrical / Electronics Engineering).
  • 7 years CAMO experience as Fleet Engineer / Technical Services engineer in the field of Technical Commercial Aviation or Airline Engineering is preferred.
  • Aircraft B1/B2 type training on A320 or A350 or A380 and experience in AMOS MIS will be added advantage.
