Overview

Saudi Aramco is seeking an experienced science consultant to join the Oil & Gas Treatment R&D Division that is responsible for providing novel technology solutions to address evolving business and operational challenges in crude oil production facilities. The successful candidate must have experience in technology development with a proven track record in the technology lifecycle. He /she will take concepts through research and development to demonstration and commercial deployment to maximize value realization from the technologies that include Saudi Aramco intellectual property. The consultant is an industry leader in surface production facilities and/or separation technology. He/she will be in a technical leadership role and a driving force for research activities related to Crude Oil Separation. He/she will ensure alignment of the R&D investments to maximize value, develop competitive technology solutions, de-risk technologies prior to deployment and mitigate potential liabilities. He/she will lead projects to solve challenges in the surface facilities and networks with novel projects that leverage laboratory experimentation and pilot demonstration, simulation and modeling, CFD, and data science, and development of oil field chemicals, decarbonization solutions, digital twins, and process efficiency and energy optimization solutions. He/she will provide operational, technical and business development knowledge to research and development projects and interface with management stakeholders, provide consultation on the development, evaluation and selection of cost-effective technologies to ensure compliance with crude oil quality specifications from Gas Oil Separation Plants (GOSPs).

Key Responsibilities

Conduct pre-feasibility and full feasibility studies on novel technologies to guarantee maintaining crude oil quality standards at the lowest cost

Develop and execute bench-scale, pilot, and demonstration studies for novel crude oil treatment technologies.

Execute modeling and simulation studies (e.g. CFD, Aspen, gProms, etc.) to develop novel crude oil treatment technology solutions

Adapt AI/ML tools to accelerate the development of new technologies for crude oil treatment

Have several technical publications and may serve as an expert reviewer for journals and scientific societies, and hold patents on inventions in areas of his/her expertise.

Identify and lead collaboration activities with leading institutes/organizations in the development of crude oil treatment technologies, and interacts with other organizations, including senior management personnel of Saudi Aramco, U.S. companies, universities, world-leading experts, and government agencies on matters relating to his/her area of expertise.

Liaise with relevant Aramco stakeholders to ensure in-house technology options are deployed promptly

Directs, guides and counsels others assigned to assist him. Acts as a professional mentor to less senior scientists and specialists.

Minimum Requirements

Ph.D. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering

Strong scientific/technical background and a broad technical credibility

Experience in collaborating with technical experts in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Proven track record of leading technology research and development with an ability to connect basic science research with industrial applications while maximizing value and developing research projects to be carried out by less senior scientists and specialists.
