We are one of the most profitable companies in the world, as well as amongst the top five global companies by market capitalization.OverviewThe candidate will be a qualified and experienced geochemist for a position in Saudi Aramco's Advanced Research Center (EXPEC ARC) to conduct research and expand existing analytical capabilities in sedimentary rocks, petroleum and oilfield water research. The position will complement the interdisciplinary geofluids and basin modeling research to support exploration, field development and production operations. Requirements for this position are demonstrated skills in fluid and rock samples preparation, geochemical analyses, and instrumentation maintenance including Multicollector-Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (MC-ICPMS), Inductively Coupled Plasma Triple quadrupole Spectrometer (ICP-MS-QQQ), Ion Chromatography (IC), and Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) instruments. Experience in at least three of the mentioned instrument types is required. Skills in the quantitative interpretation of analytical data for the geochemical fingerprinting of fluids are desirable. The candidate should have excellent interpretational, report writing and oral communication skills, and will work closely with geologists, geoscientists and engineers on exploration and field development challenges.Key ResponsibilitiesYou are expected to perform the following activities as a lab researcher and team member:

  • Responsible for the inorganic and isotope geochemical instrumentations to ensure seamless lab operation and high-quality production of geochemical data.
  • Establish analytical methodology for measuring elemental composition and isotopes of rock and fluid samples.
  • You will act as researcher in analytical geochemistry for the Geofluids Team, developing and implementing ultra-sensitive laboratory techniques and analytical protocols in a research-intensive environment .
  • You will evaluate and revamp standard laboratory procedures.
  • You will prepare technical reports, provide presentations and recommendations to E&P geoscientists and management, and illustrate the business impact of technical results to exploration and field development.
  • You will train and supervise less experienced lab technicians and young professionals.

The candidate will join a strong research team spanning solid and fluid components in petroleum system, from source to trap. The candidate is expected to improve analytical protocols and to set up novel geochemical techniques to streamline existing E&P workflows.Minimum RequirementsPh.D. in inorganic and isotope geochemistry with a hands-on experience with analytical instruments for geochemical applications in sedimentary rocks, petroleum and groundwater chemistry is required. A minimum of ten years' lab experience in the field of inorganic geochemistry, and preferably hands-on specific instrumental techniques ( such as MC-ICP-MS and ICP-MS-QQQ ) to perform compositional analyses and measurement. A proven ability to participate in scientific collaborations with demonstrated project management, and required experience in lab design, management and supervision of technical staff. Fluency in oral and written English communication skills is considered a given. Research record demonstrated in quality publications, conference presentations and, where possible, patents.
