Job Description The Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the Instrumentation & Controls discipline within Mc Dermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Instrumentation & Controls discipline. They solve complex problems and use discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. They impact a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the Instrumentation & Controls team and other related teams, ensuring compliance with guidelines and policies. Responsibilities Key Tasks and Responsibilities: Perform conceptual, FEED, studies, and detailed analyses and design as per project specifications, design codes, and standards. Apply knowledge to standard and non-standard situations. Prepare detailed design calculations, reports, and procedures. Manage own time to meet deadlines and develop plans for short-term activities. Communicate complex issues clearly to establish understanding. Understand project scope, specifications, schedule, and inter-discipline requirements; identify concerns early. Identify scope changes and raise change notifications with supporting documentation. Interface with all disciplines to develop clash-free designs. Coordinate with other departments for input on designs and drawings. Maintain close coordination with other engineering disciplines, planning, fabrication, and project management teams. Document significant communications and forward copies to relevant leads and managers. Assist in preparing estimates for bid proposals, including technical reviews and man-hour estimates. Raise technical queries for missing information and to ensure adherence to standards. Prepare discipline engineering design basis, philosophies, and specifications. Participate in finalizing deliverables and ensuring compliance. Attend project review meetings, vendor meetings, and site surveys as required. Provide technical direction and review of designers’ outputs. Review vendor and subcontractor submittals for compliance. Perform design verification through discipline and inter-discipline checks. Support fabrication queries and defect rectification. Keep the Lead Engineer informed of activities and concerns. Contribute to progress reports and productivity tracking. Review vendor data manuals and participate in technical audits. Assist in responses to customer and authority reviews. Capture lessons learned and share best practices. Guide less experienced engineers on procedures, standards, and software. Be aware of costs associated with own work and discipline. Prepare and review automation system definitions, specifications, and safety drawings. Prepare/review I&C equipment datasheets, spare parts lists, and testing procedures. Attend FATs and assist in close-out of HAZOP actions. As Lead Engineer, manage small projects, coordinate with project management, and oversee deliverables and schedules. Reports To: Project: Lead Engineer Functional: Supervising Department Manager Liaise With: All engineering disciplines, fabrication group, safety department, procurement, subcontractors, vendors, and customers. Supervises: Instrumentation and Controls Engineers Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (Master's preferred) 8-15 years of oil and gas experience, mainly in detail design Strong knowledge of design techniques, standards, codes, and guidelines Preferably a registered Professional Engineer or member of a professional society Experienced with engineering standards and software tools Able to work independently and effectively Proficient in English, both spoken and written Committed to HSE, TQM, and cost-efficiency Good organizer, motivator, and supervisor Flexible and collaborative, capable of reassignments and supporting colleagues across projects and locations#J-18808-Ljbffr
