Job Duties & Responsibilities Create new and innovative dessert and pastry recipes. Prepare ingredients according to recipes. Bake cakes, cookies, pies, tarts, cupcakes, pastries, and other desserts. Decorate desserts with icing and toppings. Plate desserts for presentation. Oversee food safety standards. Train junior staff members. Maintain inventory records. Order supplies as needed. Manage financial records related to kitchen operations. Requirements for the Position Diplomas or certificates from culinary schools related to pastry arts. At least 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen as a pastry chef or baker (or strong baking skills if no experience). Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of food safety practices. Effective communication skills in English (reading & writing). Excellent customer service skills. Strong work ethic and hygiene habits. Willingness to learn new techniques and stay updated on industry trends.
