The company is founder-led, profitable, and growing.We are hiring a Project Manager - Ubuntu Embedded Systems at Canonical. This role involves coordinating and completing large, complex customer-facing projects, overseeing all aspects of delivery, and acting as the primary liaison between engineering teams and customers.You will manage projects involving Ubuntu images on devices like robots, edge gateways, Io T devices, PCs, and automotive systems. This is a high-profile role requiring building and maintaining relationships with team members, customers, partners/vendors (Silicon vendors, OEMs, ODMs, IHVs), and internal teams.Location: Remote in the AMERICAs and/or EMEA regions.Responsibilities include: Managing projects through their lifecycle to meet goals for Canonical and clients Delivering engineering professional services Working with engineering on board enablement and Ubuntu image delivery Developing project statements of work Drafting and maintaining schedules Securing client agreement on project plans Ensuring projects stay within scope, time, and resources Managing risks and mitigation plans Driving technical issues to resolution Communicating regularly with clients and stakeholders Managing third-party deliverables Updating management on project status Identifying engineering requests outside existing contracts Recommending Canonical technologies to clients Supporting flexible working hours for global support Candidate profile: Experience managing engineering services projects with software teams and field engineers Proven success managing cross-cultural, multi-region projects (Asia, Europe, Americas)Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math preferred Knowledge of Linux, open source community, and computer architecture Excellent English communication skills Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities, with partnership-building experience PMP/PRINCE2 certification preferred Willingness to work non-standard hours and travel up to 4 times/year What we offer: Distributed work environment with biannual in-person team sprints USD 2,000 annual learning budget Competitive salary with annual reviews and performance bonuses Additional benefits aligned with our values About Canonical: Canonical pioneers in open source, publishing Ubuntu, a key platform for AI, Io T, and cloud.
