Description
The post holderwill be an experienced and skilled mechanical technician and supervisor undertaking a range of detailed maintenance activities on the Typhoon aircraft or aircraft components. The post holderrequires an excellent understanding of the approved technical data set and is competent to supervise personnel carrying out maintenance instructions in accordance with the organization’s regulatory framework. Demonstrates a distinct ability to analyze and diagnose faults in aircraft systems, equipment, and assemblies, follow diagnostic procedures, and work effectively within a team. Provides guidance to less experienced team members in a diverse and dynamic operational environment. Undertakes detailed maintenance, inspection, and supervision activities on the Typhoon and its components, ensuring work is completed according to the work package using relevant approved technical information. Resolves faults and maintenance issues, including configuration management. Performs and completes maintenance and diagnostic activities on the Typhoon aircraft or components, which may include aircraft ground handling, flight servicing, aircraft role changes, component removals, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectifications, replacements, and system tests. Demonstrates a flexible and proactive attitude to responsibilities, takes appropriate direction, and maintains personal task authorizations for working on aircraft or components. Ensures maintenance is undertaken as scheduled, resolves issues, and escalates as required. Conducts fault evaluation and raises work cards for found faults during maintenance. Supervises the team to ensure scheduled maintenance, highlights issues, escalates as needed, and reports on impacts to the wider program. Ensures staff are competent and approved for their tasks. Supports tasks within the maintenance facility to maintain compliance with MOE and FMPs, including oversight checks and tooling/test equipment control. Provides guidance and leadership, developing team members through formal assessments, supporting training requests, and on-the-job training. Demonstrates sound communication and people management skills. Ability to scope and carry out independent and critical inspections. Maintains a personal Log Book demonstrating currency and recency, signs others’ logbooks as appropriate, and undertakes authorizations and competency checks if qualified. Requirements Completion of Typhoon Q-Course is essential. Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or Military equivalent. Academic qualification of minimum City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent. Aircraft platform training is required. Broad and in-depth knowledge within own technical area, understanding team integration, continuous improvement, and safety standards. Minimum of 2 years’ experience at Technician level before undertaking a Supervisor role, with documented skills, knowledge, authorities, and recency via a Log Book. Practical experience in aviation safety standards and procedures, including Expositions and FMPs. PDR training/experience is required. Compliance with risk assessments, SHE policies, and procedures. Completion of Typhoon Composite Flight Servicing, Mechanical Trade ‘Q’ Course, Leadership-Foundation, Human Factors, E&PW Awareness, ITAR Awareness, and other specified training.
