Job Summary We are seeking a versatile and highly skilled Mechanical Lab Senior Technician with expertise in wet layup composite manufacturing and hands-on prototyping. This role is ideal for someone with a broad set of technical skills—including CNC machining, mechanical assembly, air pressure painting, carpentry, and general fabrication. We value a creative problem-solver with a positive, can-do mindset, ready to contribute in a fast-paced, experimental workshop environment.Key Responsibilities: Perform wet layup composite manufacturing, including material preparation, layup, vacuum bagging, curing, trimming, and post-processing.Execute high-quality air pressure painting and surface finishing on parts and prototypes.Support rapid prototyping and iterative builds of mechanical components and test assemblies.Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot CNC machines, shop tools, and fabrication equipment.Construct jigs, fixtures, and custom tooling as needed to support development efforts.Handle general carpentry, mechanical assembly, and facility-level tasks with reliability and skill.Collaborate with engineers and designers to bring conceptual designs to life.Contribute to the safety, organization, and efficiency of the workshop.Apply creative, resourceful problem-solving to day-to-day technical challenges.Experience And Education Proven hands-on experience with wet layup composites (e.g., carbon fiber, fiberglass, epoxy systems). Skilled in air pressure painting and finishing techniques for composite or mechanical parts.Strong background in mechanical fabrication, CNC machine operation, and general workshop practices.Proficiency with hand and power tools, including woodworking and assembly.Ability to read technical drawings and translate them into physical builds.Demonstrated creative problem-solving abilities in workshop settings.Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and willingness to take initiative.Comfortable working independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced R&D environment.Key Skills Experience with additional composite methods (e.g., vacuum infusion, prepreg).Background in aerospace, automotive, or product development environments.Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Fusion 360, Solid Works).Welding, electrical wiring, or other complementary shop skills.Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Full-time Job function Management and Manufacturing Industries Defense and Space Manufacturing This job posting is active and available. #J-18808-Ljbffr
