Neonatology Consultant

2.1 Physician will be responsible for attending patients in the age group from birth to the first month of life or more if necessary including cases of all degrees of complexity, according to approved standards of medicine. Work is performed to meet established medical ethical and legal rules in the field of neonatology and by observing practices and procedures as required by Medical Services Organization.Responsibilities3.1 Responsible to develop and implement policies/ procedures/ plans/ SOPs/clinical guidelines/pathways of thedepartment3.2 Responsible for implementing a unit specific quality improvement and patient safety program/initiative3.3 Responsible for identification, selection and monitoring of measures specific to the department or service,assess data, plan change, and sustain improvements in quality and patient safety3.4 Responsible to ensure complete and timely training and education of staff on quality improvement process suchas but not limited to, prevention and control of infection, emergency disaster response, fire safety, Hazmat, spillmanagement, etc.3.5 Responsible for monitoring and coordination of the quality improvement and patient safety program andinitiatives3.6 Responsible for monitoring incidents and sentinel events, and taken action and to sustain, to improve safety inresponse to events3.7 Responsible to support culture of safety program and implement, monitor, and take action to improve theprogram in the department3.8 Responsible for carrying out the evaluation/performance appraisal for the staffs in their department3.9 Performs the professional duties of a neonatologist.3.10 Makes daily rounds related to patients in the hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the normal newbornnursery; performs general or special examinations and other procedures covering the full scope of the field ofneonatology. Orders laboratory examinations and X-rays, determines diagnosis, prescribes nursing and dietarycare necessary, orders or applies such preventive measures as required.3.11 Provides in-patient care to the newborn and attends difficult delivery or cesarean section deliveries.3.12 Serves as a consultant in neonatology providing consultative services to the other Medical Services.Provides technical assistance with pediatric patients. Determines the eligibility of neonatology admissions.3.13 Reviews journals, texts or periodicals in order to keep current on latest techniques and procedures of neonatalintensive care.3.14 Participates in scheduled in-service training programs, divisional teaching activities, the regular physicians'conference, or other committees as requested.3.15 To perform his duties in the Pediatric Neonatology Outpatient Clinic to see well and sick babies up to the age ofone year.3.16 Provides on-call emergency coverage for neonatal emergencies.3.17 Performs other miscellaneous related duties as requested.3.18 Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospitalmanagement to comply those requirements3.19 Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities3.20 Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures3.21 Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of riskassessments, incident reports3.22 Comply with Waste management procedures and policies3.23 Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs3.24 Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems3.25 Ensure as far as reasonably practicable that any workplaces they manage or control are safe andwithout risks to health, safety or the environment3.26 Ensure implementation of applicable DOH, NMCRH OSHMS and infection control policies andstandards3.27 Designating a Safety facilitator who will be responsible for coordinating OSH activities within thedepartment3.28 Regularly discuss OSH issues or matters in departmental/ management meetings3.29 Ensure provision of OSH information, training and Supervision3.30 Implement and monitor effectiveness of risk management program Desired Candidate Profile Qualifications4.1 Graduation from an approved medical school plus internship4.2 At least five (5) years of practice as a NICU doctor post certification4.3 Command of oral and written English is required. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential4.4 Must be highly skilled in the particular field of practice, with mature clinical judgment and ability to provideprofessional leadership. He / she must have a thorough knowledge of Medical Department policies andprocedures with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personalitywhich inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization4.5 Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.4.6 Must have DOH license to practice4.7 3 yrs. residency in NICU culminating in procuring a Postgraduate Master’s Degree and/or equivalent fellowshipsapproved by DOH #J-18808-Ljbffr
