Maritime Lecturer
Description
Assist the Head of Maritime Transport Program as required. Teach a range of subjects including Navigation, Cargo Operations, Bridge Management, and other topics related to STCW II/I requirements, using a suitable style to meet the Academy's standards. Use innovative and effective pedagogic approaches in the classroom. Deliver lectures and lead seminar groups as appropriate. Participate in examination and assessment processes, including setting papers, preparing marking schemes, and agreeing marks with staff. Employ innovative assessment practices to enhance learning and teaching. Update own discipline knowledge to support research-informed teaching. Ensure compliance with the timetable and academic calendar. Conduct research for career development, aligning with the Academy's research ambitions. Provide timely, constructive, and comprehensive feedback to students through various communication methods. Deliver maritime training courses as required by the Line Manager. Be prepared to travel and work outside standard hours as per the contract. Qualifications, Skills, and Experience: Qualifications: Terminal COC (Master Mariner Unlimited) Master of Science or equivalent Master’s qualification in a relevant subject Experience: Experience in oil/gas operations, dynamic positioning, and simulation training Skills: Fluent in English, with professional communication skills Team player, approachable, culturally sensitive Ability to work under pressure and complete tasks efficiently Experience: Maritime education and/or training experience Sailed as a Master on merchant navy vessels Experience in supporting the industry supporting seafaring Experience in leading courses, revising content, and developing programs Preferred: Strong communication and interpersonal skills Company Industry: Education, Training, Teaching Department / Functional Area: Teaching, Education #J-18808-Ljbffr
