People who think differently and connect with those around them to co-create new opportunities and leave a meaningful legacy.About the role: As part of our UAE – Built Environment Unit, you will be a key member of the delivery team focused on managing the designs of hyperscale and colocation data centres, from site due diligence through to detailed design, tender documents and site delivery and handover. You will maintain excellent client relationships with our existing clients as well as grow our business by establishing new ones. With your experience, ability to see the greater picture, accuracy, drive for standardisation and eye for detail, you will assist our team to co-create an engineered impact to our clients.Your Data Centre design experience will see you leading dynamic project teams to co-create engineering solutions digitally. You will bridge the gap between the various design and execution teams, ensuring that our designs: Meet and exceed our client requirements Holistically delivered with high quality, across all disciplines Responsibilities Oversee the design and coordination of all design disciplines for your projects, from start to completion to satisfy design and our quality requirements.Ensure all design work is completed within the project timelines and budgets.Develop technical and financial proposals for new projects.Detect, track and resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise during the design stages that arises due to scope changes, errors or inconsistencies.Regularly review client engineering requirements and SOW documentation, ensuring designs align with client needs and requirements, raising variance orders pro-actively.Analysing project requirements in the context of various codes and standards and develop conceptual designs through to a set of construction information.Act as the primary point of contact between the design team, the client, and other key stakeholders.Coordinate and attend design meetings, presenting updates, challenges, and solutions.Translate technical design details into layman terms for clients and other non-technical stakeholders.Identify and address potential design changes and risks that could lead to cost overruns.Work with the quantity surveyors or cost estimators to ensure that designs are cost-effective.Assign tasks to design team members based on their skills and experience.Monitor and manage workload distribution to prevent bottlenecks and ensure timely completion.Mentor and support the design team, promoting continuous learning and professional growth.Implement and oversee quality control processes for design outputs.Ensure designs meet internal and agreed external standards and regulations.Ensure all contractual documentation (drawings, calculations, specifications, etc.) are correctly maintained throughout the lifecycle of projects.Identify potential design-related risks and work with the team to develop mitigation strategies.Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.Provide guidance on the application of appropriate design software, methodologies, and tools. Identifies scripts and add-ins to automate repetitive design aspects and/or to check various design compliance aspects (using e.g. Dynamo, Python) and mobilizes the team to put these in place.Lead the coordination of the design and virtual construction of the relevant building services designs forming part of projects such as data centres, education and sports facilities, hospitals, commercial buildings and transport facilities to ensure our deliverables meet required robust industry and legal standards.Maintain project records in accordance with internal quality system.Experience of projects in the Middle East Data Centres market is a must Lead the design process for data centre projects from start to finish.Make sure designs are high quality, delivered on time, and stay within budget.Create technical and cost proposals for new projects.Review other team members’ work to ensure accuracy.Guide and support a team of mechanical and electrical engineers and designers.Solve design problems that come up during the project.Check that designs meet client needs and match the project scope.Understand and apply building codes and standards to your designs.Be the main contact between the design team, clients, and other stakeholders.Run and attend design meetings, sharing updates and solutions.Explain technical details in simple terms to clients and non-technical people.Spot risks or changes early that could increase costs or delay the project.Work with cost experts to make sure designs are affordable.Assign tasks to team members based on their strengths.Balance the team’s workload to keep things moving smoothly.Encourage learning and growth within the team.heck all design work for quality and compliance with standards.Keep all project documents organized and up to date.Stay current with industry trends and new technologies.Help the team use the right design tools and software, and automate repetitive tasks when possible.Lead the design of building systems (like electrical and mechanical) for data centres and other large buildings.Keep accurate records as per company quality standards.Must have experience working on data centre projects in the Middle East.BSc/MSc or B Eng/M Eng within the building services related fields Minimum of
10 years of relevant consulting experience in data centres and the built environment, as either a Mechanical or Electrical engineer Experience in leading a multidisciplinary team Professionally Registered International project experience Strong proficiency with Office, ACC, Revit, Navisworks, Revizto and other related digital coordination tools Knowledge of various MEP simulation programs as well as proficiency in prime discipline programs Keen interest in BIM, inclusive of the metadata information associated with designs produced, including ISO19650Client facing with strong presentation skills Commercial and financial awareness and management of projects and fees Ability to work autonomously, as part of a wider team, and leading a team A willingness to learn and improve our delivery systems A strong interest in working on innovative and complex projects A passion for coding A passion for mentoring and teaching others We believe that a diverse workforce is key to our business success.
