Get AI-powered advice on this job and more exclusive features.The Energy & Water Efficiency Policies Section Head is responsible for developing and driving the organization’s policy, strategies and plans across the energy sector and those required to support the implementation of the DSM Strategy. This includes water and energy efficiency, as well as sustainability in accordance with the vision and goals of the Abu Dhabi energy sector and the government in general, ensuring energy supply security, affordability, and sustainability.Key Responsibilities: Prepare and develop strategic and operational plans for the energy sector in line with the Emirate's needs, in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders (such as the Abu Dhabi Plan and the Energy Strategy in the Emirate).Manage the development and administration of sector policies related to all sector disciplines and to ensure the policies are properly documented and communicated based on established laws, the organization’s strategy and best practices.Lead on the policy and strategy development and reform for tariffs and subsidies, through ensuring that tariff policies and strategies set are aligned to governmental social and economic objectives.Conduct periodic reviews and updates of policies as needed, incorporating new external requirements and Regulatory Affairs Sector notes.Communicate sector policies to the various directorates within the Energy Policy Sector to ensure these are factored in partnership agreements, sector investment decisions, innovation efforts, risk assessment and management, etc.Ensure coordination and interaction with the Regulatory Affairs Sector on the effectiveness of the adopted organizational climate change policies, challenges to their implementation, and gaps in existing policies.Ensure proper research is conducted to support the development and implementation of the sector policies, identifying possible alternatives, and contributing to the policy development process to ensure that policies remain in line with government decisions, best practices and new trends and technologies.Ensure proper interaction between the various energy disciplines to leverage synergies and build on experiences to drive development of policies in the required direction.Collaborate closely with the Legal Affairs Office to ensure that the Demand Response Sector's policies and plans comply with applicable laws and regulations.Identify potential gaps related to sector policies and identify opportunities to enhance or advance sector performance by drafting the right policies aiming to fulfill the requirements and objectives of the sector.Ensure that all regulatory reports for development of policies are prepared in a regular, timely and accurate manner.Measure the equal social, economic, and environmental impact of new policies and plans on the sector.Ensure appropriate feedback is gathered on policy development and implementation and benchmark the entity’s policy framework with leading organizations to identify improvements.Ensure proper research is conducted on external issues to identify key changes and ensure organizational policies and plans are up-to-date and follow latest trends that are applicable to the organization and the sector.Communicate with external stakeholders and coordinate working groups, committee meetings, to support engagement as well as policy development and implementation.In collaboration with the Data Management Team, ensure the process of collecting data related to current policies and other relevant data to improve policy planning and decision-making.Experience and Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a relevant discipline e.g., public policy, environmental policy, engineering, or environmental sciences.Years of experience and required qualifications: Minimum of 6 – 8
