Job Summary: The Planning Engineer foran Infrastructure Works Project is responsible for developingimplementing and maintaining the projects schedule to ensure thatall aspects of the project are completed on time and within budget.This role involves coordinating with project teams contractors andstakeholders to track progress identify potential delays andmitigate risks. The Planning Engineer will be responsible forcreating detailed project timelines monitoring progress updatingschedules and providing regular reports to management to ensureproject objectives are achievedefficiently.Key Job Duties: Project Scheduling &Planning: Develop maintain andupdate the detailed project schedule incorporating all phases ofthe infrastructure works including design procurement constructionand commissioning.Create and manage timelinesfor critical path activities ensuring that milestones are clearlydefined and achievable.Collaborate withproject managers and stakeholders to identify key projectdeliverables deadlines and resourcerequirements.Progress Monitoring &Reporting: Monitor the progressof the project comparing actual performance against the plannedschedule and identify potential delays orissues.Prepare regular progress reports forsenior management contractors and clients highlighting projectmilestones delays and any corrective actionsrequired.Track and report on projectperformance metrics including project timelines resource allocationand budgetperformance.Resource Management &Allocation: Coordinate theallocation of resources (labor materials and equipment) to ensurethat all activities are appropriately resourced for the successfulexecution of the project.Identify and reporton resource shortages or overutilization making recommendations tooptimize the allocation and use of resources across theproject.Risk Management & Delay Analysis: Identify potentialproject risks and delays that could impact the project schedule andwork with the project team to develop mitigationstrategies.Perform delay analysis and providereports on the impact of delays on project timelines recommendingcorrective actions to mitigate furtherrisks.Schedule Optimization & Recovery Plans: Proactively identifyschedule optimization opportunities to improve project timelineswithout compromising quality or safety.Developand implement recovery plans to get the project back on track whenschedule delays occur including the reallocation of resources oradjustment of worksequences.Stakeholder Coordination &Communication: Communicate withcontractors subcontractors and other stakeholders to ensure thatthey are aligned with the project schedule andmilestones.Coordinate with project teams toensure that dependencies and interactions between different projectdisciplines are efficiently managed and incorporated into theoverallschedule.Change Management & Schedule Updates: Assist in managingchanges to the project scope and incorporate these changes into theproject schedule ensuring proper documentation of anyvariations.Update the project schedule basedon approved changes and monitor the impact of scope changes on theoveralltimeline.Critical Path Analysis &Evaluation: Identify the criticalpath of the project and closely monitor the progress of criticalactivities to ensure the project stays onschedule.Analyze any deviations from thecritical path and recommend corrective actions to mitigate delaysand ensure timely projectcompletion.Cost Control & Budget Monitoring: Work closely with thecost control team to monitor and track project budgets in relationto the project schedule.Assist in forecastingproject costs based on the schedule and make recommendations forcost-saving measures ifnecessary.Documentation& Record Keeping: Maintain accurate andup-to-date records of project schedules changes and updates foraudit and compliance purposes.Ensure that allproject documentation is organized and accessible includingschedule updates progress reports and changeorders.Final Project Handover: Ensure that theproject schedule is updated for final handover incorporating allcompleted activities outstanding work and finaldocumentation.Work with the project team toensure that the handover process is completed on time and that alldeliverables are met in accordance with the finalschedule.Continuous Improvement & Professional Development: Stay current withindustry best practices new planning tools and scheduling softwareto improve the efficiency and accuracy of projectplanning.Provide recommendations for processimprovements to enhance project scheduling and planning on futureprojects.Qualifications: Bachelorsdegree in Engineering Construction Management or related field witha minimum of 10 years experience in project planning and schedulingfor large-scale construction or infrastructureprojects.Proficient in Primavera P6 Project Management Software and other relevant project managementtools.Strong analytical skills with in-depthknowledge of FIDIC contracts Work Breakdown Structures and riskmanagement techniques.Experience in handlingclaims Extensions of Time (EOT) requests and conducting forensicschedule analysis.Excellent communicationskills with the ability to present complex information clearly andwork effectively in a teamenvironment.Proficiency in Microsoft Officesuite particularly Excel and Power Point.Experience in technical tenderevaluations and bid analysis.Knowledge ofindustry-standard Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and progressmeasurement techniques.Project management(e.g. PMP PRINCE2) or planning (e.g. PMI-SP) certification ishighlydesirable.Additional Information : About AECOMAECOM is proud
