After School Educator

Key Responsibilities: Supervise and ensure the safety of children during after-school hours. Plan and lead age-appropriate activities including arts & crafts, games, STEM projects, and literacy enrichment. Provide academic support, including homework help and tutoring when needed. Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants. Manage behavior using positive discipline strategies and support social-emotional growth. Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding student progress and behavior. Maintain accurate attendance records and incident reports. Set up and clean activity spaces, ensuring materials and supplies are well maintained. Participate in staff training, team meetings, and ongoing professional development. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or GED (required). Associates or Bachelors degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field (preferred or in progress). Experience: 1+ year of experience working with children in an educational, recreational, or camp setting. Skills: Strong classroom management and group leadership skills. Creativity in planning engaging and inclusive activities. Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Preferred Attributes: Bilingual (especially in Spanish, Mandarin, or other community languages) is a plus. Familiarity with child development or behavior management techniques.
