This is a performance-focused role, aimed at building elite squads, nurturing technical ability, and securing success in both school leagues and external competitions.Working alongside the Director of Sport and Head of PE, you will take ownership of the volleyball performance pathway from upper primary through to Sixth Form, ensuring that athletes are physically, tactically, and mentally prepared for high-level competition.Key Qualities and Requirements FIVB Level 2 or equivalent volleyball coaching certification Proven track record coaching high-performing school, club, or academy teams Background as a competitive volleyball player or coach at elite or national level Demonstrated success preparing squads for local and international tournaments Expertise in session planning that builds individual skill, team cohesion, and competitive readiness Strong grasp of positional development, set plays, match strategy, and performance analysis Ability to coach under pressure and lead high-stakes fixtures Skilled in assessing individual progress and delivering personalised development plans Experience mentoring junior coaches or working collaboratively with staff Knowledge of strength and conditioning, injury prevention, and athlete recovery Professional Responsibilities Plan, organise, and deliver high quality training sessions including early morning, lunchtime, and after school squads Lead and support curriculum volleyball in collaboration with PE staff, ensuring alignment with learning outcomes and progression Select and manage school squads for competitive fixtures across local levels, including DASSA and international competitions.Fully commit to after school and weekend fixtures as part of the competitive calendar Participate in weekly sports department meetings and contribute to planning, programme development, and event coordination Engage in ongoing professional development to remain up to date with coaching practices and safeguarding expectations Support operational and administrative needs including squad organisation, fixture logistics, and overseas trip planning Lead the marketing and promotion of volleyball across Fortes schools, showcasing student success and driving visibility through social media and school platforms Carry out additional tasks as directed by the Director of Sport in support of the school’s vision for excellence in sport This is a key appointment within our sports programme, and the successful candidate will be instrumental in building a winning culture and advancing the profile of volleyball within Fortes Education.Application Process If you have the passion, energy, and commitment to drive accelerated outcomes for young people, we will welcome your application.
