Senior Procurement Engineer

Reports To: Procurement Manager / Head of Procurement Location: (Insert Location)Job Purpose: The Senior Procurement Engineer is responsible for leading the full procurement cycle for construction and engineering projects, ensuring cost-effective, timely, and compliant acquisition of materials and services. The role requires strong technical knowledge, vendor management expertise, and the ability to coordinate closely with engineering and project teams to meet project demands and quality standards.Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement effective procurement strategies aligned with project timelines, budget, and technical specifications.Focus on local/domestic sourcing to optimize cost, availability, and supplier reliability.Identify and evaluate suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors through detailed market research and prequalification processes.Establish and maintain strong vendor relationships, conduct supplier audits, and ensure compliance with company standards.Monitor vendor performance and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.Prepare and issue Request for Quotations (RFQs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).Lead negotiations for pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to achieve the best value.Ensure procurement activities comply with contractual, legal, and technical requirements.4. Technical & Engineering Coordination Review technical drawings and specifications with engineers and technical departments.Ensure purchased materials fully comply with project requirements and industry standards.Resolve technical discrepancies with vendors or internal stakeholders.5. Budget & Cost Management Control procurement costs and ensure adherence to approved budgets.Analyze market trends and price fluctuations to inform procurement decisions and reduce costs.Identify potential procurement and supply chain risks; implement mitigation strategies.Ensure compliance with relevant local and international laws, regulations, and company policies.7. Documentation & Reporting Maintain complete, accurate procurement records, contracts, and documentation.Prepare reports on procurement activities, savings, supplier performance, and risk assessments.8. Cross-functional Collaboration Coordinate with engineering, planning, finance, and site teams to ensure procurement aligns with project progress and schedule.Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding procurement status, risks, and alternatives.9. Team Mentorship & Process Improvement Guide and support junior procurement engineers and assistants.Recommend and implement continuous improvements in procurement processes, including the adoption of digital systems or ERP tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle).Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.Minimum 8 years of experience in procurement within the construction or engineering industry.Strong knowledge of technical specifications, drawings, and BOQs.Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office tools.High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.#J-18808-Ljbffr
