This role ensures optimal delivery of services, staff performance, class scheduling, and member satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, coordination, and operational management skills, with a passion for health and fitness and a commitment to maintaining a high-performance culture.Key Responsibilities: 1. Operational Management Supervise daily operations of the fitness floor and group class studios to ensure cleanliness, readiness, and safety.Oversee the execution of the group exercise class schedule, ensuring timely start, smooth transitions, and adequate space/equipment.Ensure music systems, lighting, and technology are functioning in all fitness and group training areas.Monitor attendance and report on class utilization, cancellations, and member feedback.2. Staff Supervision & Scheduling Lead and supervise a team of group exercise instructors, personal trainers, and floor staff.Create and manage instructor rosters, personal training schedules, and shift coverage for fitness staff.Conduct on boarding and orientation for new instructors and trainers.Provide ongoing training, coaching, and performance evaluations to staff to ensure service excellence3. Class Programming & Quality Control Work closely with the Fitness Manager to curate and update a diverse, results-driven group class schedule aligned with member preferences and trends.Maintain consistency and quality of instruction by observing classes and providing constructive feedback to instructors.Support the integration of specialty classes and seasonal programs or challenges.4. Member Experience & Engagement Act as a key point of contact for all member inquiries related to classes, PT sessions, and fitness services.Resolve member concerns swiftly and professionally to ensure a high level of satisfaction.Collect, monitor, and analyze member feedback to identify areas of improvement and innovation.Promote fitness programs and campaigns internally to boost participation and retention.5. Compliance & Safety Ensure staff compliance with safety protocols, emergency procedures, and health regulations.Monitor proper use of fitness equipment and ensure preventive maintenance is reported or completed.Ensure all instructors and trainers maintain current certifications and adhere to facility policies and dress code.6. Reporting & Administration Track and report KPIs such as class attendance, member satisfaction, instructor performance, and equipment usage.Assist with budget oversight, including payroll hours, staffing levels, and resource allocation.Maintain accurate records of certifications, training hours, class rosters, and staff evaluations.Ideal Qualifications: Education & Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, Physical Education, or a related field (preferred).Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (mandatory).Experience: Minimum 3+ years of experience in fitness operations or group class coordination supervisory role.Demonstrated success in team supervision, scheduling, and fitness programming in a medium-to-large facility.Strong leadership and motivational skills.Excellent verbal and written communication.High emotional intelligence and conflict resolution ability.Proficiency with scheduling and booking systems.Attention to detail and a proactive approach to operations and problem-solving.Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities under pressure.Understanding of trends and innovation in fitness and group training.
