Commercial Director (Sports & Legacy Programs) We are seeking a strategic and commercially minded leader to take on a confidential role as Commercial Director, responsible for driving revenue generation and partnership development for a flagship initiative focused on women’s sports and inclusive community engagement in Qatar. This position will lead efforts to secure sponsorships, develop membership and tenancy frameworks, and activate a diverse portfolio of events and institutional collaborations to ensure financial sustainability. The Commercial Director will also oversee the implementation of a comprehensive financial model that aligns with broader national objectives and legacy strategies. The vision is to establish a vibrant, inclusive, and year-round destination that reflects Qatar’s commitment to supporting women and people of all abilities through sport, education, and community activation. The role offers a unique opportunity to shape a long-term legacy in alignment with national priorities and organizational values. Strategy and Framework Development: Develop the commercial strategy aligned with the launch of a national-level Women’s Sport Center and oversee strategy, communication, and execution to deliver on its mandate. Make the center’s vision commercially viable as part of a broader National Women’s and Girls’ Sports Strategy, which includes a variety of key projects essential to deliver on the overall objectives, such as: Quality programs for girls and women Pathways and pipelines (technical support for women across the entire sport ecosystem) Facilities fit for purpose for women Apparel that reduces barriers and encourages active lifestyles These focus areas are underpinned by the importance of representation (role models) and benefits of sport (correlation between sport participation and positive futures). Liaise with National Federations on the transition from academy-level development to national teams. Lead the development of a strategy to achieve long-term revenue generation through sponsorship, membership, tenancy, and events, following the framework proposed by legacy strategists. Set targets, KPIs, and structure for attaining revenue-generating opportunities. Identify impact areas that should be prioritized for additional funding. Collaborate with internal strategy and communication functions on creating impact stories that would attract high-value sponsorships and philanthropists. Sponsorship and Revenue-Generating Partnerships: Responsible for local and global sponsorship efforts for both programmatic, event, and facility assets. Manage local and global relationships with existing partners and tenants. Work closely with relevant advancement teams to allocate resources for partnership opportunities. Cultivate relationships with prospective clients proactively and independently. Adapt sponsorship offerings creatively to remain aligned with evolving sponsorship landscapes. Create a map of potential targets using strong analytical judgment. Target leads and pursue conversion, adjusting approach based on market feedback and documenting learning points. Work collaboratively with leadership to deliver on the center’s and venue’s mandate through activations, programming, events, outreach, advocacy, and partnerships. Tenancy and Events: Oversee agency sales teams in booking tenants and events. Maintain strong relationships with promoters, events managers, and agents to engage relevant performances, events, and tournaments aligned with the legacy vision. Manage relationships with facility tenants to ensure long-term retention. Membership Scheme: Develop and implement a profitable and cohesive membership strategy for community and recreational sports facilities. Coordinate with communications teams on promotional campaigns and identify unique selling propositions in services and deliverables.
