Section Head, Portal and Web Services Michael Page- Doha, Qatar Posted In27/6/2013 Job Description Reporting to the Manager of Enterprise Business Applications, you will be responsible for the planning, maintenance, development, and operation of the University's Web presence and Portal application and directing the integration for Internet/web related services and functionality into the overall computing fabric of the QU, including but not limited to: Administrative systems, Library systems, Academic/distance learning systems, Student, faculty, staff and alumni "portal" systems, and World Wide Web presence. You will lead a group consisting of staff members who perform systems administration and analysis for the qu.edu.qa web presence and the QU portal infrastructure utilized. You will work closely with other Unit Heads and staff members within ITS as well as other groups around campus who support web applications and supply enterprise content management solutions to the University. Your primary initial responsibilities include Sun Gard Luminis Portal products implementation and integration in addition to Microsoft Share Point Portal, developing web services integration "vision" and directing day-to-day operations of Internet/web services integration. You are expected to stay current with state-of-the-art web site practices, including graphic presentation, interactivity, web marketing, server performance and other relevant areas, and serve as a college resource to provide guidance and support in those areas. Continuously research web technology and its integration with various business and student information system applications, email, conferencing, newsgroup and related technologies. Experience with Banner Web Products desired, and knowledgeable in delivery of web-based courseware in a higher education environment. Experience in Java Script, HTML, PERL, web applications (e.g., basic Photoshop, Illustrator and web graphics). Working knowledge or better of Internet server technologies including, but not limited to HTTP/Web, FTP, Messaging (SMTP/POP3/IMAP) and NNTP/Collaboration systems. Working knowledge or better of web client and server scripting and programming technologies including but not limited to Java Script, PERL, VBScript, ISAPI, Java. Min of 2 yrs. of hands-on application development, and architecture experience with one or more of the following: i Pad, Blackberry, Android, Windows Mobile, Mobile Middleware products, Mobile Device Management, Device Testing-Application, Network, Performance. Developing mobile web applications using HTML. Mobile development experience with Objective C, C++, Java, .NET, C#. Understanding of "knowledge management" and "portal" concepts preferred.
