Radio Operator (RO)
Description
Operates various forms of technical communications systems, line and electronic including radio/telephone as HF, VHF, UHF and microwave bands to send and receive a variety of messages from the drilling rig to Doha, vessels and other locations. Receives written or verbal radio messages from supervisor or directly from user units, files and distributes such messages verbally through radio equipment or landlines to various company locations, ships and helicopters. Receives weather report daily and makes observation of sea condition as required by supervisor. Ensures broadcast to sea craft, helicopter and other concerned personnel. Receives and dispatches urgent material belonging to company and client by helicopters and follows up the same. Provides radio communication linkage between assigned drilling rig, Doha vessels and various other locations on assigned night shift. Ensures prompt action in all emergency cases by carrying out tasks in accordance with GDI’s procedure on emergency calls. Minimum Qualifications: Completion of Secondary (12 years) education/ Diploma. Experience in drilling companies in GCC. Excellent communication skills (written and spoken English). Technical understanding of emergency responses. 3 – 5 years’ experience in radio communications or qualification with a radio operator license.#J-18808-Ljbffr
