**Department**: NUQ Business & Finance **Salary/Grade**: EXS/10 Northwestern University in Qatar's (NU-Q) Assistant Director, Student and Financial Services, is responsible for a wide range of business functions related to student accounts, financial aid, student employment, etc. The position collaborates with NU-Q Admissions, Student Records, and Student Affairs and serves as liaison with Qatar Foundation personnel and other constituents regarding student financial information and transactions. **Responsibilities**: Develop and manage student financial information, monitoring/reporting systems for accounts receivable and collection. Development and management of the bad debt process. Supervise staff in the delivery of these services for NU-Q. Understand and communicate information about the financial aid process, including awarding financial aid, US federal aid, scholarship and sponsorship programs, procedures, and other relevant information to students, parents, the campus community, outside agencies, and other constituents. Manages the student employment program including posting of positions, communication with students and supervisors, and management of WFS (time reporting) and my HR process. This also includes the supervision of a student employment support position. Conflict resolution when discrepancies arise regarding the reconciliation and recording of hours between students and staff/faculty. Co-approval of student employment payroll with NU-Q HR. Participate in NU-Q initiatives and perform other duties/projects as assigned, including being a backup for some other business & finance activities when there are absences. Manage, analyze, and award additional financial aid for students. **Minimum Qualifications & Competencies** - Bachelor's degree in education or business administration, or related field or equivalent combination of training & experience - 1 - 3 years of related experience in higher education - 1 - 3 years of experience in managing a retail function - 1 - 3 years of experience in supervising students and/or staff - Strong analytical and organizational skills - Strong Microsoft Excel skills - Ability to communicate thoughts effectively, both orally and in writing - Ability to establish and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with a variety of internal and external personnel **Preferred Qualifications & Competencies** - 3 - 5 years of work experience in financial aid and student accounts - 3 - 5 years of experience supervising students and/or staff - 3 - 5 years of related experience in higher education - Experience with Northwestern University student finance methods, processes, and systems - Master's degree in business administration or accounting - Strong database report writing skills Northwestern strongly recommends COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters for people who can obtain them as a critical tool for minimizing severe illness.
