Description
The BMS Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of building automation systems, including but not limited to HVAC, lighting, security, and energy management systems. This role involves ensuring the seamless integration and functionality of various building systems to enhance energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and overall building performance. Key Responsibilities: - Install, configure, and integrate BMS components with existing building systems. - Collaborate with contractors and vendors during system installations and upgrades. - Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance tasks on BMS equipment and associated devices. - Conduct system tests to identify and resolve potential issues before they escalate. - Respond to system alarms and malfunctions promptly, diagnosing root causes and implementing corrective actions. - Utilize diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot hardware and software-related problems. - Monitor system performance and energy usage through BMS software and analytics tools. - Analyze data to identify inefficiencies and implement optimization strategies to reduce energy consumption and operational costs. - Provide technical support to building occupants and maintenance staff regarding BMS operation and troubleshooting procedures. - Conduct training sessions to educate users on system functionalities and best practices. - Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and system configurations. - Generate performance reports and recommendations for system improvements. - Ensure BMS operations comply with industry regulations, building codes, and safety standards. - Implement safety protocols and procedures to mitigate risks associated with BMS maintenance and operation. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, computer science, or a related field (preferred). - Relevant technical certifications or vocational training in BMS, HVAC, or building automation systems. - Minimum of 3 years of experience in BMS installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. - Proficiency in working with BMS software platforms such as Siemens Desigo, Honeywell Niagara, or Johnson Controls. - Strong technical aptitude with a comprehensive understanding of building automation principles and technologies. - Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to resolve critical issues. - Effective communication skills for interacting with stakeholders, including building owners, facility managers, and service providers. - Certification in BMS systems (e.g., Certified Energy Manager, Building Automation System Technician) is desirable. **Experience**: - BMS technician: 3 years (preferred)
