Lifeguard / PE Technician

United School International, The Pearl Island The Opportunity The role is due to start from August 2025. You will be instrumental in ensuring the safety and security of students in the swimming pool area. You will explain safety rules, warn about unsafe situations and enforce policies regarding proper behaviour and attire. You will be responsible for overseeing activities in the school pool area and assist with swimming lessons. You will be maintaining order in the swimming areas and recognizing signs of danger. Having the agility and knowledge to respond to emergencies, rescuing swimmers and performing first-aid will be key elements of the position, in addition to ensuring the security of the school property and carrying out general tasks that commensurate with the post. Person Specification In particular, candidates should meet the following technical profile: • Holder of a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or equivalent. • Health and Safety understanding in a swimming pool environment. • First Aid and CPR certification. • Demonstrates high levels of honesty and integrity. • Relevant Experience as lifeguard preferable in a school setting • Available to work shifts. • Proficient in interacting with people of various ages from diverse backgrounds. • Confident working alone, as well as part of a wider team. • Sets and maintains high standards. In addition, the personal qualities we are looking for include: • Proactive, enthusiastic, ambitious and energetic person. • Flexibility to work outside of office hours when required. • IT skills to include: Advanced Excel, Proficient use of Word, Powerpoint, Outlook. Strong English language and clear communication is an essential requirement for this role, and applications from native-level speakers of English will be preferred.
