Assistant Power BI Developer

The Assistant Power BI Developer supports the development and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and KPIs that provide meaningful business insights. This role involves working with data from various sources such as Excel, databases, and cloud platforms to build user-friendly visualizations. The job holder will assist in data modeling, performance tuning, and troubleshooting report issues. They will also collaborate with senior developers and business users, contributing to the delivery of scalable and accurate BI solutions using tools like Power BI, Azure, Snowflake, and Microsoft Fabric. Key Responsibilities: 1. Report on Development & Support Assist in creating interactive and visually compelling Power BI dashboards and reports. Modify and enhance existing reports based on business requirements and user feedback. Maintain version control and documentation for report development and updates. 2. Data Integration & Modeling Support data extraction and transformation processes using Power Query (M) and DAX. Assist in developing and maintaining robust semantic models and star schemas. Ensure consistency, accuracy, and efficiency in data models across all reports. 3. Data Quality & Validation Perform data checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of reporting outputs. Investigate and resolve data discrepancies across sources or systems. Support testing and validation phases during report deployment or changes. 4 . Collaboration & Stakeholder Support Work closely with business users to gather requirements and clarify report objectives. Provide basic training or guidance to users on report navigation and features. Liaise with the IT/Data team to ensure data availability and system performance. 5. Governance & Best Practices Adhere to company standards for data security, governance, and report deployment. Contribute to documentation efforts including data dictionaries and user manuals. Promote standardization and reusability of BI assets across departments. Participate in regular team reviews to improve report efficiency and usability. Stay updated on new Power BI features, tools, and best practices. Proactively suggest ideas to optimize report performance and user experience. Qualification & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field. Microsoft Certified Data Analyst certification (PL-300) is preferred. Working knowledge of data governance principles and CI/CD pipelines in BI contexts. 2–3 years of experience in business intelligence, reporting, or analytics-related roles. Basic to intermediate knowledge of Power BI, including report creation and dashboard development with 2-3 experience Working knowledge of Power Query (M) and DAX for data transformation and calculation logic. Familiarity with data visualization, best practices and user-centered design principles. Understanding of data modeling concepts (star/snowflake schema, relationships, measures). Basic knowledge of SQL for querying databases is an advantage. Knowledge of Python for automation, advanced data manipulation and analytics.
