Senior Service Engineer - Protection

The opportunity You as a Senior Service Engineer - Protection will be part of Hitachi Energy's business based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work independently in the Grid Automation field with opportunities to lead technical discussions with customers and travel across UAE. How You’ll Make an Impact Manage and execute service works on Control and Protection systems according to work instructions and Hitachi Energy processes. Deliver high-quality customer service. Prepare method statements, risk assessments, and site activity schedules. Supervise cubicle installation, cable laying, and termination works. Perform modifications, extensions, and upgrades in HV substation protection systems, including scheme checks, component testing, setting implementations, trip tests, end-to-end tests, SAT, and energization checks. Manage customer and witness activities. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance works. Identify technical problems and analyze them through remote or on-site activities across various areas such as service, installation, commissioning, retrofits, and technical assistance. Prepare visit reports, service reports, test reports, RCA reports, etc., as required. Collaborate with the engineering team to identify digital solutions and support the expansion of service scope on the installed base. Act as the resolution owner for assigned customer cases. Apply safety rules, safe practices, and environmental responsibilities, reporting unsafe practices and incidents. Your background A bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering is required. Thorough knowledge of substation control and protection philosophy, principles, and application concepts. Minimum 10 years of testing and commissioning experience on main and backup protection relays, with knowledge of communication protocols. SCMS experience is an advantage.
