Vehicle Body Repairer
Description
As a Vehicle Body Repairer, you will be responsible for restoring vehicles to their original structural integrity, function, and appearance following collisions. You will work on a wide range of tasks from minor repairs to extensive body rebuilding. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of vehicle structures, and proficiency in using a variety of tools and equipment. You will collaborate with other technicians, parts departments, and service managers to ensure vehicles are returned to customers in excellent condition. Your work will play a crucial part in ensuring vehicles are safe and aesthetically restored while delivering high customer satisfaction. A commitment to craftsmanship, quality, and safety is essential for success in this position. Responsibilities Examine vehicle damage, estimate repair costs, and provide recommendations to customers. Repair or replace damaged body parts such as panels, doors, and bumpers. Utilize hammers, dollies, sanding equipment, and other tools for body repair tasks. Ensure proper alignment and functioning of vehicle body parts and assemblies. Refinish repaired surfaces to match vehicle's original texture and color. Work closely with paint technicians to ensure appropriate paint shades and textures. Maintain work area cleanliness and ensure all equipment is in good working order. Follow all regulations and standards to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. Document completed repairs, parts used, and time spent for repair billing purposes. Collaborate with insurance adjustors to ensure all repairs are authorized and documented. Keep updated with the latest repair techniques and materials through ongoing training. Maintain customer satisfaction by ensuring timely, quality outcomes for all repairs. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Completion of a formal auto body repair training program is highly desirable. Previous experience in vehicle body repair or a related field is required. Strong understanding of vehicle structure design and collision repair techniques. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under minimal supervision. Proficiency with computer software for repair documentation and parts identification. Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment, often over 50 pounds safely.
