Explore career opportunities at: Role Overview The Urban Designer Manager role is focused on hands-on design development from initial visioning and pre-concept stages. The candidate should bring innovative, 'blue sky' thinking to develop compelling urban designs, leading high-level pre-concept and vision development, utilizing creative problem-solving to craft groundbreaking urban spaces. Roles and Responsibilities Lead urban design projects from conceptual genesis to developed vision stages, coordinating design elements to realize visionary urban environments. Establish and oversee visualization and graphics production processes. Manage schedules, monitor deliverables, and coordinate issue resolution. Develop master plans and urban design concepts through hands-on approaches, employing innovative techniques. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects and landscape architects for integrated outcomes. Visualize and communicate design visions via sketching, digital tools, and detailed 3D models using Sketch Up, Rhino, etc. Create diagrams and visual presentations with Adobe Illustrator, In Design, Power Point. Address complex urban design challenges with innovative solutions. Manage multiple projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery. Conduct site analysis and context studies to inform design decisions. Work with internal teams to interpret development briefs and align urban designs with strategic goals. Produce high-quality renderings and visualizations in collaboration with visualization teams. Develop test fits for various development concepts and adapt designs for new sites. Present concepts to leadership, clearly articulating design rationale. Stay updated with urban design trends and technologies. Use data tools like Excel and GIS to support design decisions. Review precedent studies and incorporate best practices into design processes. Participate in workshops and brainstorming sessions with various teams. Mentor junior team members, fostering growth and learning. Qualifications and Education Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or related field. 10-12+ years of urban design experience, especially in master planning during visioning and concept stages. At least 5 years in top-tier consultancy firms, with GCC, especially UAE, project experience. Local experience in UAE/GCC is highly preferred. Preferred Skills and Competencies Extensive experience in master planning and early-stage urban design. Strong design intuition and project inception capabilities. Proficiency in Sketch Up, Rhino, Adobe Suite, and visualization techniques. Excellent graphic and visualization skills. Knowledge of dataset creation, Excel, and GIS. Optional scripting skills for workflow optimization. Creative problem-solving and innovative thinking. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Knowledge of UAE building codes and regulations. Fluent in English; Arabic skills are a plus. Experience mentoring junior designers and presenting to stakeholders.
