QC Inspector - Piping (Brownfield)Location : Offshore / Site-based, QatarContract Type : Fixed-Term (until end of 2025)Work Schedule : Offshore rotation or site-based, depending on project phaseWe are looking for a highly qualified QC Inspector with a strong background in piping inspections within the oil and gas industry. The successful candidate will oversee the quality control of construction activities, including welding and testing, ensuring compliance with project specifications and international standards.Qualifications RequiredMechanical Engineering degree and / or diploma with experience in quality control in a multi-discipline construction environmentCSWIP 3.2, AWS Sr. Welding Inspector, BGAS Grade 2, or NACE Level 2 and ASNT NDT Level II Certification (or equivalent certifications from internationally recognised organisations)Membership with a recognised professional institution is an advantageExperience Required10 years of experience for graduate engineers and 15 years for diploma holders in similar positions within the oil and gas sector (experience in the GCC region is desirable)Hands-on experience with CRA Clad / Lined Pipelines, flowlines, and exotic materials (DSS, SDSS, Ni, Cr, etc.) in welding inspection / testingStrong knowledge of international standards such as API, ASME, ASTM, NACE, DIN, and others related to materials and mechanical constructionExperience in quality control and testing requirements in major oil and gas / petrochemical construction projectsAbility to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environmentKey ResponsibilitiesImplement elements of the project's quality management system relevant to piping constructionEnsure adherence to safety standards and environmental regulations on siteCoordinate and attend inspections, tests, and punch listing on behalf of the projectFamiliarise with project-specific documentation to ensure understanding of contract requirementsImplement quality inspection procedures for construction activities, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project specificationsEnsure that contractor documentation for inspections, tests, surveillance, and surveys meets the requirements of the Project Quality Plan (PQP), Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), and project specificationsComplete relevant forms and reports on inspections and tests undertaken by the contractor, and maintain inspection recordsCommunicate effectively with contractors, third parties, and project stakeholdersEnsure calibration of all measuring and testing equipment, maintaining accurate recordsPerform surveillance of construction activities, identifying and addressing non-conformances and proposing corrective actionsLiaise with other Field Supervisors and contractors to ensure proper planning and execution of inspections (e.g., NDE)Assist the Senior QA / QC Engineer in reviewing and approving contractor QA / QC documents such as QCPs, ITPs, WPS / PQRs, personnel qualifications, Material Approval Requests (MARs), MRBs, and project dossiersMonitor contractor fabrication, installation, inspection, and testing activities related to structural steel, process piping, tanks, and heatersWitness and verify inspections and testing activities related to welding, NDT, PWHT, hardness testing, alloy verification, painting, etc.Monitor the performance of special processes, personnel, and contractor controls, and report concerns to the Senior QA / QC EngineerParticipate in the receiving inspection of permanent materials and verify associated documentation for traceabilityFollow up on corrective actions to close out non-conformancesMonitor trends in non-compliance to quality requirements and provide feedback on contractor performanceInitiate surveillance and NCRs for Senior QA / QC Engineer approvalMaintain relevant QA / QC documents and recordsIdeal Candidate ProfileStrong technical knowledge of piping inspections, welding, and NDT within brownfield oil and gas projectsDetail-oriented with the ability to identify non-conformances and implement corrective measuresProactive in ensuring quality and safety standards are met on construction sitesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to work in a multidisciplinary environmentThis role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of a significant brownfield offshore project.
