Job Responsibilities
- Receive the briefs from the Public Relations Department, and draft press releases to be published in newspapers, magazines, and websites.
- Attend events that require the presence of a writer, assist in covering the event, and write press releases, reports, or other press content.
- Participate in the company's internal meetings, present ideas upon request, and assist in some of the tasks required, whether for the content department or other departments.
- Gather information about an event, a person, or a topic, categorize it, and verify its accuracy to help write press releases and other media content.
- Assist in conducting research on some topics, statistics, and persons, to provide the right data needed for drafting press releases and other media content.
- Follow up on what the clients post on social media to keep up with their vision, efforts, and actions.
- Translate simple texts and obtain the needed information.
- Transcribe audio or video content when needed, such as recorded interviews, statements, or other audio-visual media content.
- Follow up on the most important news, and keep with the most prominent services of interest to the company's clients and the fields we work on.
- Conduct professional press interviews with government officials and spokespersons over the phone and in person.
- Read content and correct spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors.
- Rewrite text to make it easier for readers to understand.
- Verify facts cited in material for publication.
- Evaluate submissions from junior writers to decide what to publish and provide guidance.
- Work with writers to help their ideas and stories succeed.
- Develop story and content ideas according to the publication's style and editorial policy.
- Allocate space for the text, photos, and illustrations that make up a story or content.
- Approve final versions submitted by staff.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Mass Communication, Journalism or any related field.
- Prior experience as a writer, Senior writer, Editor or a similar role.
- A strong portfolio of published works.
- Exceptional writing as well as editing skills.
- 5+ years in agency experience.
- Superior strategic thinking and creative skills (written, visual and conceptual).
- Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and juggle multiple priorities.
- An analytical mind with a keen eye for details.
