We are looking for a General Counsel (Arabic Speaking) for a leading logistics company based in Dubai. Location – Dubai, UAE Salary – 80,000 AED/month Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in law, in addition to a Bar Association License
- 15 years of expertise in the Judiciary, with at least 5 years’ judicial leadership experience.
- Experience in UAE and Commercial laws
- Analytical skills
- Experience in authority matrix for the organization
- Good experience in drafting of Legislations law
- Experience in IPO and Corporate Governance
- Good knowledge related to regulation and rules of Securities & Commodities Authority
- Lead the development of the department strategy across reporting functions in line with functional strategy and towards achieving strategic objectives of the Group.
- Formulate policies, processes, standard procedures, structure, and best practices for Legal Affairs so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Design comprehensive goals for performance & growth.
- Deal with sensitive and confidential information related to work with discretion to protect the interests of the company.
- Deliver practical and business-focused legal advice to Board of Directors, GCEO, Heads of various BUs and subsidiaries, on a broad range of federal, local, legal and compliance matters ensuring consistent legal compliance across the company’s operations.
- Oversee the set-up and service delivery of legal entities for new subsidiaries of the company.
- Identify potential legal issues and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Contribute to new activities, initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on purchasing activities.
- Oversee the defense or pursuit of legal claims on behalf of the company.
- Lead comprehensive legal research initiatives, ensuring the team is well prepared and informed about evolving legal trends, regulations, and potential risks.
- Support the GCEO in the development of an optimum organization structure for the group so that resources are optimally utilized and communication can take place in an efficient manner.
- Foster a culture of innovation with the Legal Department, regularly seeking out and implementing new legal technologies and process improvements.
- Direct the Head of Litigation and Collections to participate in settling billing and credit policy and procedures with the Finance department.
- Lead requests for settlement and pursuit of fines and compensation in order to minimize the financial burden and risks to the organization.
- Oversee the preparation of requests ensuring settlement of fines and compensations to fulfill departmental objectives.
- Direct the preparation of cases and investigations into complaints in order to ensure gaining an extensive knowledge and formulating a clear idea on subjects under purview.
- Review and approve legal frameworks for the company’s contracts and approve standard templates for use by internal stakeholders in order to increase efficiency in the contracts process.
- Oversee contracts and relevant agreements to ensure they are legally sound and aligned with the company's regulations.
- Lead the creation and implementation of a robust compliance program, which will ensure business operations compliance with necessary laws and regulations.
- Conduct regular compliance audits and training.
- Oversee and approve the preparation and consolidation of budgets for the Legal department and monitor financial performance versus the budget.
- Direct the coordination and provision of legal services to the Group through legal consultant and State Cases Dept. at Ministry of Justice.
- Act as the key point of contact between the company and external legal entities, regulatory bodies, or other stakeholders ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Monitor, evaluate and report the team on potential impacts of proposed legal legislative changes on the company’s operations in order to be proactive and prepared to deal with all legal implications.
- Organize the induction of in-house legal professionals across the Group and subsidiaries in order to provide legal assistance to the company as required.
- Provide legal departmental reports of the company in order to meet organizational and department requirements, policies and standards.
- Analyse and interpret legal data and metrics by utilizing advanced tools to provide insightful reports.
- Promote a high standard of employee motivation through regular employee communication, performance evaluation, training and equipping with the best tools to achieve the maximum results.
- Review the manning and training requirements of the team and communicate those requirements to the management.
- Identify potential talent pool of successors and support succession planning framework.
- Demonstrate a commitment to meeting Emiratization target.
- Perform any other responsibilities relating to this job request or work task as allocated by the Line Manager.
